Barack Obama

Throughout my whole life, I have been alive for three presidents : Bush, Obama, and Donald Trump I am too young to know anything about Bush other than the fact that he is the 43rd president of the United States.  President Obama I grew up on and can recall almost all of his presidency.  Donald Trump is in the first stages of his, but I look forward to seeing how that plays out.  Obama did many things in his presidency.  Some of the greatest things he did include stopping the Recession of 2008 in his first 100 days.  He also won many awards such as a Nobel Peace Prize.  As you will learn after reading this, Barack Obama is and will always be a great leader in American History.

From age 6-10 lived with his mother and his step-father in Indonesia.   Obama was brought up as and indonesian, a hawaiian, a black, and a white student.  This later helped him in understanding people better.(“BarackObama: Life Before the Presidency”)  Obama was brilliant and to be able to know and learn about all those different cultures.  This would prove to help him in the long run when he runs for president.  Obama said that he learns a lot of things from when he travels around the world.(“Barack Obama”)  He likes to learn things about different cultures that he’s not already familiar with.  He says that this in one of his greatest strengths. Knowing about other cultures made him a more ‘fluid’ person in a sense, meaning he had an idea about how hard things were in different places so that influenced his ideas and choices. He not only wanted to make it better for Americans he wanted a better world.

Obama entered Harvard Law School in 1988.  The next year, he met with constitutional law professor Laurence Tribe and their discussion so impressed Tribe, that when Obama asked to join his team as a research assistant, the professor agreed (2017).   Obama’s original plan was to become a lawyer but the pull of politics led him to become a governor and eventually the 44th president of the United States.   He was also swayed into politics after a visit to his father’s tribe leader. ("Barack Obama.”) Everyone who has ever worked with him said that he could do anything he set his mind to and that he was a bright young man.  After Harvard Law school he met his wife Michelle while interning for a law firm in Chicago.

Barack Obama, on many occasions, said that some of his greatest influences were Martin Luther King Jr., Gandhi, and the people of the world.   President Obama stated that “I am mindful that I might not be standing here, before you today, As the President of the united States…… Throughout my life , including my work as a young man on behalf of the Urban poor, I have always found inspiration in the life of Gandhi. .” ( I am President because of Mahatma Gandhi).   Obama was heavily influenced by the way Gandhi used the power he had over indians to get them to fight for their freedom.  Obama views things in a different light and does everything he does to have the same effect that Gandhi did.  He has had many successes in his speeches and getting the message he wants across to America despite his critics.   Martin Luther King Jr. along with many other people inspired Barack Obama and led him to the position he was previously in.   When asked why he took an interest in King’s Biography he responded with “That’s My Story.”( “How Martin Luther King Jr. Inspired Obama”) He looks up to Dr. King because he sees many similarities in their pasts.   Lastly, and maybe one of the most influential things he sets to be after: People. Barack Obama said “ I'm inspired by the people I meet in my travels-- I'm inspired by the love people have for their children. And I'm inspired by my own children, how full they make my heart. They make me want to work to make the world a little bit better. And they make me want to be a better man.”

In conclusion, Barack Obama is a person who likes to look the the world in other people’s eyes and see what e can do to make living a little easier.  He believes that everyone’s life should be an easy one.  This makes him a better leader, mentor, friend, boss, co-worker, and person all together.  While he might not be a perfect person he always does what he thinks will make someone else’s life better.
