"But most of all, we love Madeline!"

I was skimming the October issue of Teen Ink when an article catches my eye. It is titled, “What Not to Wear” written by Morgan C. from Southborough, MA. The writing tells of Cooley's experience with her school's dress code, and how degrading it made her 12 year old self feel. She then describes how dress codes negatively affect not just her, but students nation wide. Throughout the article, I found myself nodding in agreement with Morgan, thinking she worded it perfectly.

From as young as seven years old, I can remember my school’s strict dress code. I remember not being able to wear my favorite dress because the straps were too thin. Thinking back on it, it was absolutely ridiculous. What kind of inappropriate suggestions could my exposed first grader shoulders possibly carry? Morgan C. speaks the undeniable truth that “'You are not the problem.’”
