"Am I Safe Here?" is a poem by Alexis Queen, about racism and the questioning the state of the country. Alexis, a girl who wears a hijab, worries about her safety in America as her peers constantly profile and judge her by her appearance.
It hurts me to read about someone suffering in America, the supposedly "free" country, and even more so knowing that we, as children can't do anything about it.
