I really enjoyed reading Arielle Williams’ piece, “Impressionist Sky.” I liked how she portrayed two perspectives on the narrator’s feelings through careful use of formatting and word choice. At first glance, the narrator seems to be extremely trusting of the man in the story, saying that they “had no doubt about his trust, ever. no feelings of doubt when he talked about his ex and the eerie correlation with me.” The narrator proclaims that they are not afraid to fall in love because it was all worth it, but the hidden message in the poem says otherwise. In the bolded letters, the text states, “i’ve been having doubts about him. it’s too good to be true, it’s just not worth it...and yet i want to love another.” I loved how the author portrayed the two perspectives really well, using the same words of supposed trust and lack of doubt to convey an entirely different story. The piece was well written overall and I really liked it!
