In “My Medicated Self”, Noelle H. talks about her experience as a young child and her struggles when growing up, from receiving bad grades in grade school and forgetting to do the flipped side of a test to being yelled at by her mother when she would run across the street.  She was first given pills to control her behavior at the age of six and has taken them for eight years.  Henein spent years arguing with herself to decide whether she was really herself or her medicated self.  After years of contradiction, she has decided that she is who she wants herself to be and her worth is what she chooses.

This memoir needs to be read by all high school students whether her or she feels insecure or not.  It’s important people are self acceptant, and people need to know that no one can love them until they love themselves.  The way people try to be what others want him or her to be is so bizarre; people should be proud of the way he or she is made and flaunt his or her individualistic ways.
