In “Nothing” by Kalliope C, Kalliope tells her readers about how she spent her summer. To bring in readers she says, “I would like to tell you a story about my summer that will keep you on the edge of your seat. A story that will enchant you and boil you with envy.” But the story wasn’t like anything I expected. What she did with her summer was absolutely . . . nothing. She had all these fantastic, amazing things planned, “I had all these
wild and bizarre plans whizzing around in my head.” But she didn’t do any of them. She woke up at 10 a.m. and watched
reality shows in an oversized T-shirt and too-tight shorts. But
she surprised me again. While most people would think she
wasted her summer she said, “I tell you today that it was not a
wasted summer. Those endless days of nothing are something I
cherish.” When I think about it, waking up at 10 a.m. and doing
nothing is sometimes your best plan. Even though she was sarcastic when she said that this story would enchant you, it really enchanted me.
