The poem “Blackened Waters” by Dackary Saig was very interesting to me. By the second line – “Blue jeweled waves” – it had already created a full image in my head. This poem really pulled me in – almost into the water! It explained how unforgiving the water can be, taking the lives of plants and animals without apology. The waters are strong and sometimes hard to fight. One day they can be crystal blue and calm, but the next they can be vicious, black, and harmful.

I really like how this poem began “Her waters once glistened.” Then ended by saying “Unforgiving.” That reminds me of people who have moods that switch on and off. Happy then sad, nice then mean, weak then strong. I think Dackary did a great job. It gave me vivid sensory images.
