“Dress to Impress,” written by Cooper G, talks about how dress codes are unfair. His writing left me feeling surprised.

I can relate with this article because the author talks about how unfair dress codes for girls can be. What truly sparks my interest is the fact that the author is a boy who has watched his sisters be unfairly dress coded. The author’s own words prove that he acknowledges gender inequality in relation to dress codes. The article states, “As a boy, I took the dress code in stride because it didn’t affect me, but as I witness my younger sister struggling with it on a daily basis, I wonder whether it treats boys and girls equally.” Another good point the author makes in this story is the misunderstanding young girls have when they are dress coded for something deemed inappropriate. Cooper states, “At that age girls don’t even understand why the school would consider certain outfits distracting.”  Overall, I can say that the author’s argument is valid and understandable.
