Though you will never read this
I will chicken scratch my way across this paper
Though you will never care enough to open your eyes to see the words I write for you
I will jot my thoughts down
But never say them

The boy who speaks your words for everyone to hear
You indulge your anger into my ears and make me feel more worthless than the kiss I gave you
But I know you love me
And I know you speak of me
You tell me sweet things about the way my hair lies on the pillow
Or how soft my skin feels after a shower
Or just maybe the way my hidden voice sounds beautiful coming from the other side of the door
And maybe
Just maybe on one of those days I just might have the privilege of hearing those soft sweet words
You will not yell or scream at me for calling you romantic
Or for saying that your words are beautiful
You will simply hold me and say the words I am dying to hear
The three content words that mean nothing to most
But everything to me
And hopefully I will change my mind and stay
Because I am tired of looking in the mirror at my purple skin
