Sometimes I have off days,
Off weeks, off months…
I know it isn’t easy,
And I know cutting isn’t something you can just
Stop.
But you are beautiful despite every
Scar.
Both the ones on your skin and
The ones on your heart.
You haven’t let it destroy you,
And I can see that inside,
You still have so much fight left in you.
Take a jar,
Write everything that makes you happy,
On slips of paper,
And put them inside,
To look over later when you’re breaking.
Take a deep breath,
Not just once,
Frequently.
Let go of as much sadness and frustration as you can,
Don’t let it build up until your
Blood freezes into the daggers that
Pierce your skin.
Take some of my warmth,
Bring a blanket when you’re about to fall below 32,
Let the sun melt away your troubles,
You shouldn’t have to hurt more,
Just because life has given you the cold shoulder.

Have you heard of the glitter jar. I have one in my purse, but you fill a jar with glitter and water, and when you feel the urge to cut you shake it really hard, and then set it on the table and before you grab the razor or knife or whatever you have to watch everything settle. It gives you a minute to cool down.
