Dilemma

By , Athens, GA
You are a silent observer.
You've been for many years.
You just wish you could start over.
You've shed so many tears.

So many years of people ignoring you,
No one knows what to say.
Over and over people will label you.
Don't let it stand in your way.

You are looked down upon.
(Not worthy of "normalcy")
Surely, you're not just a pawn?
You're included only out of desperation, kindness, pity, or sympathy.

There have been rumours...
People have talked behind your back...
Just ignore those unimportant murmurs...
Strength is not something you lack.

If you're ever patronized,
Or you don't know how to change you're life,
If you've been marginalized,
If people have unintentionally caused you pain, or emotionally cut you with a knife,

The trouble with our culture is...
Anything TOO unique is pushed out of sight.
You be kind anyways.
Soon will they see your plight.
