A Bully’s Lament

I am bully.
Hear me roar.
I will break you down and hurt you like never before.

My pushes leave you broken.
My hits leave you hopeless.
My words are capable of worse.

But the secret is,
I was bullied once, too,
and I've taken the anger of my past out on you.

While I seem evil and wicked,
truthfully,
this is what jealousy and resentment have left of me.

I scar your life
to help heal scars of my own
your pain is my cure.

I am not impossible to defeat.
with tolerance and respect,
I can be stopped.

While you may despise me,
My self-hatred is runs far deeper.

Don’t let me treat others
the way I have treated you
because in the end
we are both left bruised.

This is a reflection of how I have always viewed "bullies". A bully's past is reflected in his or her actions.

Very good poem, although quite intense. You're correct, in that people who've been victimized all too often come up to victimize others in a rather similar manner, because they've been put on the defensive. Victimizing others is all too often an attempt on the part of a (former) victim to shake off feelings of inferiority with the attitude of "Hey...I'm the big guy/gal on campus around here!" That's a dangerous attitude that can and often enough does backfire. To quote a quote by the famous author, Mark Twain: "History doesn't repeat..It rhymes."
