Most of us know it as just 3.14 or as ?. However, the average person probably doesn't know much about pi, other than 3.14, or 2?r, or ?So, in the spirit of Pi Day (3/14), I have put together a list of 10 things that you probably did not know about pi.

1.) Pi is also involved in the formula for the volume of a sphere:

V=4/3 * ? *

2.) Pi is the result of dividing the circumference of a circle by its diameter (This should be easy to figure out why)

3.) Hiroyoki Gotu of Japan memorized 42,195 places of pi in 1995 and is considered the champion for memorizing digits of pi. Some scholars say that Japanese is better suited for memorizing digits of pi than other languages.

4.) In 2002, a scientist from Japan used a supercomputer called the Hitachi SR 8000 to find 1.24 trillion digits of pi. This is the current record

5.) The circle has 360 degrees and Pi has many relations with the circle. Coincidentally, 360 is at the 359th digit position of pi.

6.) Some approximations of pi are; 22/7 accurate to 2 decimal digits, 333/106 accurate to 4 decimal digits and 104348/33215 accurate to 13 decimal digits

7.) Albert Einstein was born on pi day (3/14/1879) in Ulm Wurrtemberg, Germany

8.) The official celebration for pi day begins at 1:59 PM, to make 3.14159

9.) Pi is the 16th letter of the Greek alphabet, and P is the 16th letter of the English alphabet

10.) The first 144 digits of Pi add up to 666 and: 144= (6+6)x(6+6), some scholars call this "the mark of the Beast "

there is atleast one zero in the digits of pi, so 0 times anything is 0
