I'm a nerd. I love learning, except when it depresses me (like in econ. or gov). I look up stuff I get interested in from time to time (like one time I did this huge study on alternative energy). I also enjoy watching Star Trek, Star Wars, X-Files and the Discovery Channel. I have already decided what colleges I am going to apply to (I did this when I was in 8th grade, I 'm in 11th now). I want to be an aeronautics engineer for NASA for many reasons, including the following:
1. I want to find out about government conspiracies
2. the awesomeness of it (I mean, I'll be building spacecraft!)
3. I want to try to sway the uses of certain machines to more useful to the average human
What generally seperates me from the nerd category can be one or more of the following:
1. my aooearance - I dress punk, not nerdy
2. My music preferances - I listen to stuff like MxPx and Anti-Flag rather than like classical or whatevs
3. My political beliefs - I am an anarchist rather than the usual democrat or republican
4. I find it hard to control myself at times - I get hyper to the point of kicking trashcans down because it's funny

top ten reasons I am a nerd:

1. I find dissection incredibly fascinating.
2. I can spout random facts about sea life
3. I do my schoolwork three days ahead.
4. I enjoy homework
5. I love spreadsheets
6. I am a fan of all the classic dystopias (brave new world, 1984)
7.  I adore reading fact books
8.  I, like Zephyr, will look up stuff I'm randomly interested in.
9. my favorite songs are "flight of the valkyrie" and "oh, fortuna" (ok, so maybe that's not all that nerdy)'
10. I own a giant, plush replication of the microbe penicilin.

by the way, both my parents are aeronotis engineers for nasa, and they don't know a single thingabout government conspiracies. if you want to meeet a bunch of true nerds, then keep on that path, though.
