I'm going to be a junior in high school this September. Junior year is usually when the counselors tell everyone to start looking for (and possibly even applying to) colleges. I know for a fact that I want to major in writing/English so that I can pursue my dreams of becoming an author. Also, since it takes quite a while to write a book and have it published, I was entertaining the possibility of becoming a high school English teacher as well. What are some colleges I could look at for this?
It would be nice if it was close to home (Northern New Jersey). But I'd also like to be close to my boyfriend, who will also be going to college.
I'd like to stay at the college during the school year, and go home during the summer. However, I don't know how expensive that would be, so I'm still not sure what I'm doing with that yet.
I'm horrible at sports, so I'll never get a sports scholarship. I have a few scholarship bonds from past essay contests and such, but I'll most likely still need an academic scholarship.
If that ISN'T what you meant by scholarship, would you be so kind as to elaborate on that?
Neither he nor I know what he's majoring in just yet, so, for now, I just want to be near him. If he finds a college that suits both him and I, I'll apply to that college.
Alright, so I'll have to google colleges that offer those things for English majors. I might even ask my English teacher once I get to school. And I'll most likely ask my counselor for suggestions.
Haha, thanks! I might do a little online searching if I finish a decent amount of my summer homework.
Well, I know that I want to go to Columbia College in Chicago. They're supposed to have a great fine arts program, including writing. It's not near New Jersey, though, if that's what you're looking for.
Well, there's no longer the need to worry about being near a boyfriend anymore. And, ArianaKnight, I'm pretty sure Chicago's a bit far from Jersey :P
I was thinking about being somehere with in the tri-state area (New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania). Though, I suppose I could leave the tri-state area, just as long as it's not too far from home. I would still like to be able to visit my family.
