How to deal with awkwordness?

ApolloSilver posted this thread...

Alright, i'll admit it, i'm not the most people adept person. I tend to avoid contact with people as much as possible, not because i dont like people, though i can't say i'm to thrilled with many of them, but because when i do start interacting with people it just gets embarrasing. My awkword shows like a beacon. Can anyone help me get over that?

I'm awkward too, but there's nothing wrong with being more introverted. Hmm...this may sound too simple and obvious, but maybe relaxing and being yourself and putting yourself into more social situations could help. I mean, continuing to avoid people may be easier, but it can only worsen the embarrassment when you are around them.

So, get used to being around people? is that really all it takes?

Well, I'm no counselor and I have a grocery list of antisocial disorders, but this is the best advice I can muster. Just don't analyze situations where you're around people too much, and try to keep in mind that others have their insecurities and awkward moments too. I hope that helps a little.

SMILE. It will help put the other person more at ease with you and chances are they will smile back, putting you at ease. Make a friend and then try being friends with his/her friends.

I know how you feel. I'm the most awkward person alive, but I think I'm improving little by little. All I can really say is that you can only be self-conscious for so long. Don't let embarrassment get to you. Remember that the people you are with are as human as you are.

I am beyond Awkward. Most people at school hate me because i can make absolutly ever occurance of anything awkward. I think it is funny though it does make it harder to make friends. just put yourself out there and that is how you meet the best of people cause the people who choose to hang out with the awkward people are probably awkward themselfs and then you can have awkward fun times togeather.
