my best friend's boyfriend (let's call him Jack) has been acting more and more depressed lately. Jack is an only child and his parents work far away and late into the night sometimes. he seems really lonely. the only person he really talks to is my best friend (let's call her Jill). Jack keeps Jill up all night talking because Jill is afraid he'll do something rash and end up hurting himself. Jack tends to sulk about everything and refuses to eat because he is "not worthy of food". he feels that no one cares for him and feels no one pays attention to him. should Jill tell Jack's parents?? what should she do?????????
This is a really difficult situation, and I don't think I can provide any advice for it. I suppose Jill should tell Jack's parents, in order for Jack to get better. As friends, you should do the best you can to make Jack feel comfortable with himself. I think there are some websites that help in those situations, but I myself cannot help you. I do hope Jack gets better.
Maybe Jill should get Jack to hang out with her friends, maybe broaden his horizons:P and if he doesn't get better (or starts talking about suicide) Jill should tell Jacks parents fo sho.
she has already but it's only gotten worse. Jack is seeing the school guidance counselor as well as a therapist outside of school but there has been no positive change in his behavior. he is unpredictable. he gets uncontrollably mad at least twice a day where his rash actions hurt a lot of people, sometimes even physically
It's probably a mental unbalance, ya know, hormones or something. Maybe see a doctor? Although, the best medicine of all is love:)
I understand Jack as I've went through depression myself - but this seems like a bit of an extreme case. Therapy and counselling is the best option. Maybe Jack should try talking about this issue to his parents as well. A person who is suffering from depression is the only person who can cure himself. Jack should try being more outgoing, making friends and meeting new people is a great option. He should distract himself by taking up hobbies such as writing or art - poetry helped me through my phase of depression. Listening to music is also a great option. My well wishes go to Jack. xo
thank you :) Jack has gotten loads better since I first posted this thread. Thank you all for your incredible help!!
