Last April my stepdad left suddenly after a period of crazy. We think he's bipolar. Anyway, he and I were really close but now he doesn't call or ask to see me and my brother at all. I feel betrayed. Also, my half brother and sister (I call them that purely for clarification, they are my "real" siblings... But anyway...) haven't seen him either. The whole thing is so confusing because he used to care so much. Can anyone relate/give me advice? Feeling really messed up about the whole thing...

I can't relate, but I know that there's always a solution. If he's actually bipolar then he will return. Is there any way for you to call, text, or even email him? And if your mom may know anything about it then talk to her about him.

Thanks. No, there's no way to contact him, I'll just say that without delving into all the sticky details. But I appreciate your response:)

don't feel betrayed or that it was your fault or anything. if he truly is bipolar, then it was the disease that made him leave. hopefully he will get some medication or some professional help and come back to you when he has his mind under control. just remember that being bipolar takes over your mind and makes you do things without thinking.

Thanks, PeaceLoveCrossCountry:)

However, he refuses to get help, so who knows how long it'll be before I'm in any way reunited with him??

And by what point is it too late to mend the relationship? A year from now? Five years? At one point a disease becomes a choice, becomes a betrayal, or the feeling of one.

I'm not asking anyone to fix my problem:) Just some support. Thanks!
