YouTube and Boy Bands

I've noticed something within the music and YouTube "areas". No one seems to be listening, or watching much of female's songs/ videos. Focusing on one direction, Justin Bieber pretty much told the world that boy bands where still okay. Now, people don't really listen to Demi Lavato or Taylor Swift and that junk. I'm sure some people still do. But not as much. This is the same with alternative music. I haven't heard of a single female band that people excessively listen to. And then on YouTube, nearly all of the "stars"  are guys. The reason why I'm posting this on here is because I know 90 percent of you guys have extreme political/social/whatever views. -NO OFFENCE- Anywho, tell me what you think. Are the guys becoming more famous? Is it just this whole introduction to boy bands? Have girls gotten so naturally jealous that they don't even want to see female stars? Am I being to insulting?

I think i will disagree when it comes to Taylor Swift, i think she is rising in popularity, and her vevo i believe has more suscribers than 1D at least. yeah i think to some extent though it is jealousy for the girls. i know i've been jealous of certain female stars, either because their boyfriends or just their success. hope that helps

Guys aer just naturally more talented and attractive than girls in every way so it's only natural they'd get more attention.
On a side note: Evanescence and Paramore are 2 of my favorite bands and they both have female lead singers.

YouTube really just promotes who's excessively popular. If you go to different parts of YouTube or other social sites (facebook, tumblr, etc.) you'll find much different views in music. Female stars aare still popular, just not as much as One Direction is right now. Key words: right now. 1D is kind of a passing trend, as far as I can tell.

^ The above could be very true.  It really depends on whether they come out with anymore really good songs.  I know I might be branded as a heretic for saying so but I honestly think that people and bands who are popular in the music industry deserve it.  You have to keep in mind that Pop is not the only genre though, there are plenty of famous female singers and musicians in other genres as well.
As I stated underneath the giant ASCII trollface above, I think that some good places to start looking would be Paramore and Evanescence.  Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jaspen are good Pop singers if that's more your style though.
Good luck!

I'm going to agree with ClaireBearH on the Taylor Swift thing. I was watching tv earlier today and there was a statistic that showed a few different stars' salaries. Taylor swift made about two million dollars more than Justin Bieber this past year. There may be a lot of new guy singers, but that doesn't mean that they're becoming more famous!
