I always end up sounding like Shakespeare when I write plays and I get embarrased.Should I post them?
YES! Please post them! I am a sucker for plays and would love to read yours if you post them! Don't be afraid to express your "artistic identity" (as I like to call it) on TeenInk. The teens on here are generally nice and if any criticism is ever given, it's always constructive. This is an online community that will support you even if they totally suck (which I bet they don't) so don't be afraid to put yourself out there. :D
Awe, I wouldn't be afraid to post your work. You never know, people might fall in love with them. Shakespeare was a very knowledgable, successful poet, you shouldn't be ashamed in the least that you might sound like him.
You should never be embarassed of your work! You really never know what people will think unless you let them read it, and it almost always turns out that people love it. Whatever your plays are, someone will love them. I usually comfort myself with the fact that Stephen King threw away the first few pages of Carrie because he didn't like them, but his wife read them and convinced him to finish the story. Never be embarassed of something that you put time and dedication and heart into.
Well, for the record, if you have to sound like someone else when you write plays, you could do much worse than Shakespeare. Post the plays!
