OMG WHO SAID NEWSIES?!?! I go through phases, you see, and Wicked was mine for a very, very long time, and for a while since then it's been RENT, which I'm still sort of very much into. Now, though, it's Newsies. It's fantastic. I basically break down in tears whenever I see/hear Santa Fe, don't ask me why. My favorite though us "The World Will Know."  Has anyone seen/heard "The Addams Family"? Or...lets see...13?

Yeah, the first movie they made out of LSOH was bad enough.  :(  I hope this new one's better, but I obviously have my doubts (this isn't exactly the kind of thing that goes well, and even if they fix the problems associated with the first musical film, like the changed ending and the cut songs, they'll probably have new problems, like a horrible, "modernized" score, or dumb modern in-jokes, or stuff like that.  And at least the first movie musical had good acting in it.  This could even be missing that.  Can't we just let the stage version stand on its own?

I don't see why people always think that a great stage musical will make a great movie...I mean, that's part of the magic of broadway, being in the theater, seeing it happen on stage, and knowing that these people haven't been edited and what's happening doesn't have anything to do with computer graphics.

Hannah, you are my new best friend. I literally tell people the same thing, and they're like, "why don't you just go see the movie? It's so much cheaper, and there's so much less singing, and it won't take four hours. CGI is way better, too." then i scream and they run in the other direction, but YES you're so right. Like LSOH, they didn't use any CGI, they mad a giant awesome mechanical plant and had it sing and eat people. It was actually made, not computer generated. ((goodness, i do get very excited about these things don't I? i feel like all my posts in this thread've been spazzes))

Meh I know the feeling. I try and keep a lid on my Broadway geeking out when I'm in public, in fact there are many of my friends who have never even seen that side of me. But I would so rather go see a play thana movie, and part of that is BECAUSE there is more singing and it takes four horse and it's actually real!!

okay, so i'm going to have a little newsies rant here now. just fyi.

So, this is what happened:

my friend SARAH: sees Tommy Bracco/ Spot Conlon pictures on MEG's phone. Who is that?

MEG: The most attractive Newsies on Broadway. Duh.

SARAH: What's a Newsie?

MEG: Holy sh1t have I taught you nothing? realizes how Broadway-challenged Sarah really is.

SARAH: Oh...so it's a playl? He's the hottest playl?

MEG: facepalm.

SARAH: Ohhhhhh he's in the play!

MEG: singing: Thank you God! quoting "Watch What Happens; Reprise" from NEWSIES.

SARAH: Wait, does Newies have music in it?

MEG: tackles SARAH and slaps across face [that didn't really happen, but the tackling did] What! No! Sarah! God! splutters.

SARAH: Ow. Meg. Stop. Ok. Chill. You know, I didn't get mad when you asked which direction I was talking about, or who Harry Styles had for homeroom!

MEG: Newsies is better that One Direction!

SARAH: NOOOO!

((^^^this is the source of all arguments between me and my friends d: ))

Umm, so I've decided that Terrence Mann is the god of Broadway. He was the original Rum Tum Tugger in Cats, the original Javier in Les Misérables, the original Beast in Beauty And The Beast, and I believe he was the original Chauvelin in The Scarlet Pimpernel. He's AMAZING!!! Oh, and the Broadway production of Sister Act was fantastic. I saw Wicked when Idina Menzel and Kristen Chenoweth (not sure I spelled those right) were still Elphaba and Glinda. I saw West Side Story with my high school choir last year; I saw The Phantom Of The Opera a decent number of years ago, but I still remember the whole thing. I really really really really want to see Love Never Dies, which is the sequel to Phantom. I've heard the music for Love Never Dies, and I'm totally in love with it. Beneath A Moonless Sky, Devil Take The Hindmost, Look With Your Heart, and The Beauty Underneath are my absolute favorite songs from Love Never Dies. Okay, I'm pretty sure my Broadway rant is over. But, just to recap, Terrence Mann is godly and Love Never Dies has breathtakingly beautiful music.

Da.mn girl! Do you, like, live on Broadway?! The only shows I've seen are a couple of insignificant off-broadway things. The only one I ever really liked was Rent, which i actually love, even though it was off-bway. I also saw Wicked as part of this "Broadway in Detroit" thing that  tried to make Detroit more fun. But, nothing's the same as seeing a true broadway show :) (All the other musicals I talk about are the ones that I spend all my time preparing to see them (aka stalking). O.o

It's just so fantastic!! My school's music department (both band and choir) go see a musical every year, so that's how I get to see a lot of shows. Not to mention that I jus adore Broadway. Oh! I forgot to mention that I saw Tarzan on Broadway. THAT was super cool!!
