Any one else on here absolutely in love with the stunningly incisive lyricism and dizzingly intense emotion of the great John Darnielle? Or maybe you just heard No Children on the radio and liked it. Either way, talk to me! P.S. I have the same username on the Mountain Goats forums, too.
Dearest Mountain Goats enthusiast, I share your love of the dazzling, numbing, and ever-alluring croon of Mr. Darnielle, and I would very much like to talk to you, because you are a fellow fan of lovely music. Let's be friends!
It is indeed advisable that we be friends! the Mountain Goats mean a lot to me. Okay, first things first! What are your favorite album and song?
Mine are: Tallahassee (So well crafted. The portrait of a couple determined to go down with the ship is perfectly rotting. Also, the metaphors feed into each other and it is beautiful.)
Going to Georgia (Joy and relief and desperation and the overwhelmingness of "the most remarkable thing about you standing in the doorway is that it's you and that you're standing in the doorway.")Admittedly, I have not heard his/their full body of work, as I am a relatively new fan.
Sorry this took so long to get back to you! I would have to agree with you on the album, really beautiful, though I too have not all of their work yet. I like "Damn These Vampires" quite a bit, but that may just be because it holds a certain sentimentality for me.
What other groups do you listen to?
Wow, I'm late to this thread, but I, too, am deeply and hopelessly in love with John Darnielle/the Mountain Goats. I'm a relativelty new fan though, so I'm still in the process of trying to absorb it all.
Actually, as an aside, I think I'm following you on Tumblr, assuming that your URL is the same as your username here. Funny how you meet the same people around the internet!
