Don't Need Makeup To Cover Up

Zoe_Writer posted this thread...

Honestly, I bet nobody on TeenInk even need makeup. Lots of people think that they NEED makeup to look pretty or nice. But many of them look beautiful without makeup. Has anyone just appreciated who they are without goop all over their face? Guys like girls who show their inner beauty and don't worry about what they look like. So just try it... Go one day without makeup and shine like you usually do without makeup but with a smile.

Wow!!! :) I loved your poem. It was beautiful. Although I'm a little suspicious of you, it sounds like a poem I would write. Haha. That's okay. I guess we have a lot in common. Have you ever tried makeup, or do you wear it?

I like how you related things to real life like, "That I don’t need To be pretty, Popular, Or rich," This is so true at my school, which I think is NOT cool.

I don't wear makeup, except on fancy occasions, mainly because I'm too lazy, don't know anything about applying it, and don't want to spend money on nice makeup. I think it looks fine in a small quantity, and if it helps someone's self esteem then I don't care if they wear it. But you're right, layers and layers of goop aren't good for your skin, probably, for one, and sometimes just end up making you look worse. Not to judge anyone who wears makeup. But I agree, most people just don't need it.

I agree completely :) Makeup is just a disguise for who u truly are, its a way of hiding from the world, its a way of hiding fear, and insecurity. guys that are worth it will always look at inner beauty, they don't have superficial views. It's fine to put makeup just for the fun of it :) but i think many people really do put make up on for all the wrong reasons.

Ha Ha You would hope people would like you for your personality but most the time Thats not how it works. If you saw a ugly, smelly homeless guy on the side of the road you would probably not walk up to him and see if he is a nice person or not. Even if you did walk up to a homeless person and talk to them they would probably just steal your purse or wallet.

First of all, I love how you quoted 1D in you title.
Two, make up isn't a nessessity, but it helps make girls confident about themselvs, which is a good thing.

Okay, I can't judge makeup because I've never worn it. I don't see the need, you only need happiness (well not counting food, you always need food!). My problem with makeup is that it makes everyone look the same. If everyone worn makeup, everyone would have even skin tone, long eyelashes and red lips. Why would you WANT to look like everyone else? If it helps you to blend in fine, just remeber that you are hiding under a mask.

Makeup is meant to enhance your natural beauty, that being said, many girls go overboard, seeing makeup as a way to disguise themselves then show themselves off. I don't really wear makeup myself, but I love tinted moisturizer and cream blush. It gives a glow that I don't have, being pale skinned and a demented party animal who gets no sleep and all. Mascara is another thing I really appreciate, because it adds a nice contrast. I don't think there's anything wrong with girls wearing makeup, it's just that a lot of them wear way to much skin makeup, like foundation, and it makes them look like banshees. I love lipstick though, I think it's very stylish and classy. Eyeliner is cool too, but seriously, what's with the Cleopatra look? It's eye liner not eye annihilator.

Annihilator.  Lol, XD

Anywho, I pretty much agree with everything Sorla said. ^^ A little bit of makeup is fine. But people who look like mannequins freak me out. My older sister, for instance, is beautiful just the way she is, but occasionally wears a bit of eyeliner or pale/clear lipgloss, and she's beautiful with it, too.

I pretty much never wear makeup myself, but I do love the look of a GOOD AMOUNT of eyeliner, and lipsitck can be really nice too if it's the right shade. Like the 20's bright red looks great on the right person. Until a few weeks ago, I'd never even worn nail polish, and when I do now, it's because it's fun and I like the color, bot because I'm hiding myself. Heck, depending, makeup can be a way of expressing yourself, not hiding. Just look at Talia Castellano. :)

I agree with most of what people are saying here. Some women can definately pull off the amount of makeup they wear. I, personally, only wear a little eye shadow, eye liner and mascara if I wear anything at all. I don't even own foundation! What bothers me the most about how some girls apply their makeup is that they just dont know when to say "that's too much." I just dont understand how some girls can go around looking like clowns and think they look absolutely gorgeous. Another thing that grinds my gears is when a girl uses foundation to cover up pimples or other blemishes. We can still see it and it just makes it look worse, not to mention what it actually does to your skin. I'm pretty sure covering a zit with foundation will just make it bigger and more gross looking. Anyway, the only time I seriously "glam it up" is when I have a dance recital and i dont want to be washed out by the lights. Don't get me wrong, I love watching makeup and hair tutorials on YouTube and everything but most of those aren't meant to be everyday looks. That's just how I see things.

I never wear anything but lip gloss, ans that's only occansionally. I agree that a little makeup isn't bad. I don't like wearing a lot of it, because I don't look like ME. I like me the way I am. :)

I've only worn makeup during Drama, when we absolutely had to and it was ridiculously overdone Drama style.  Even if I wanted to start wearing makeup, I wouldn't know where to start, and I honeslty think I'd be more self-conscious than I am now.   I guess I'd use it for Prom or something, but....heh, yeah.

I've never worn makeup before, and I never will. I don't believe in using makeup because it's like saying you're ashamed of how you really look. I think all girls should stop using makeup. Dying your hair is a form of covering up your true self as well. Honestly, it's silly to pile on that stuff and turn out looking the same as everyone on the street: fake. Just be yourself and you'll stand out in a crowd!
