I'm a guy, and I like to dress modest and preppy.
My question is, if you are a clean, preppy dressing gentleman such as myself, what do you wear?
My question for girls is, if you were to see a clean, preppy dressing gentleman such as myself (even if preppy guys aren't necessarily your favorite), what would you like them to wear?
My goal is straight-looking but cute.
I'm a girl, and when boys are clean cut well dressed gentlemen, I respect them, but I don't take them seriously. If they care about their appearance and are generally well groomed it gives them the appearance of an educated and polite individual, but it's those kinds of people that I feel kind of uncomfortable around. I'm used to guys who are a lot rougher around the edges, wear the same clothes until they fall apart and if you're lucky, maybe they'll shave every once in awhile. I'm used to guys that are rude, obnoxious, and delightfully grungy and uninhibited. I've never had good luck with preppy folk, they judge me, or get really freaked out by my ways, and I guess I don't blame them. It all depends on what you're used to and how you were raised. As for clothing though, I'd say when you're a boy, or even a girl, you can never go wrong with jeans that fit you really well, and a solid color t shirt. Fashion and grooming for men is SOO simple, I get jealous sometimes, it just doesn't make any sense to complicate things further by dressing nicely unless you have a job that requires it. And here's a hint, everyone looks cooler in leather, no exceptions ;) Preppy only really looks good when it has an edge.
I love leather :D
I usually don't wear leather jackets though, I like leather watches and shoe laces the most.
I get the same feeling of judgement "edgy" people actually :P I think it's almost an involuntary thing, I try to control myself from doing it too but I'd be lying if I said I didn't.
I like some edgy guys too, I don't like it when they don't shave though, *pukes*
I actually don't wear jeans very often -_-
I usually wear khaki's and a collared shirt personally, but I did ask for opinions after all :)
So do you wear casual or professional footwear? Something I've noticed about people, is that you can really tell who they are but what shoes they choose. Clothing is one thing, but shoes are the most practical article of clothing, no matter what they're like, everyone wears shoes, that's the one constant. Well, not everyone wears shoes. But I bet most people own shoes. Some people always want to be comfortable, and will wear sneakers and boots, no matter what the outfit is. And some people always make a conscious effort to look good. I'm in between personally, I like all kinds of shoes, but I mostly wear cowboy boots and hunting boots. I've also met people who wouldn't give up their preference of casual footwear even at the most formal of occasions. That's another way you can really learn about a person, what shoes they wear with a tuxedo.
I wear these mostly:

You can laugh if you want :P
I've been saving up the money to buy these though:

I only wear boots when I'm hiking, and then I don't wear namebrand boots, just boots that fit right and feel sturdy.
Yeah, I wear normal, black dress shoes with a tuxedo :) I don't mind giving up my casuals.
I do find shoes to be very indicative of certain personality traits, like self confidence the most. If you're wearing really flashy shoes and you're parading them around and making it obvious, chances are you're insecure.
I have known some people who wear flashy shoes and are just fine though.
I think it's kinda a hit and miss thing that changes with fashion trends also.
Those are like the white collar version of moccasins it appears. The vans with the palm trees are actually pretty cool. Vans are comfy, I used to have a pair of vans with the three velcro straps on the front, and I wore them until they fell apart, and even then some. These are my favorite shoes in the whole wide world;

They're extremely comfortable, easy to get on and off, and match with everything (at least in my opinion). I have to many pairs of cowboy boots to count, and I got a pair of black cowboy boots at a thrift shop that I painted the American flag over. They look a bit like this, as I put the stripes and stars on different sides.

My sister says they make me look ignorant, but I think they're awesome XD
Yup :) Boat shoes are beginning to get popular, I like them so I hope this trend never dies *grins evilly*
I love Vans, they're probably my favorite sneakers, I see lots of people rocking Nike's and Addida's nowadays, not for me though. I'm stickin' to my Vans.
I like those boots, one of my best friends has a really similar pair.
Ooh, I like the idea of painting your own designs on shoes, I like that cowboy boots with the stars and stripes too! Great idea, I think I might try something vaguely similar.
I'm not too artistically talented, I think if I did do something like that, I'd design it digitally, then print out some kind of cutout to paint with :P
I find the "socks and sandals" trend kinda gross to be honest. Is that going on wherever you live? It's everywhere here, when I see socks and sandals I always think of old men in nursing homes (No offense if you like it :P)
I'm a guy and my style is polished and preppy and I love looking good everyday. Basically my go to preppy style choices for the upcoming spring months would include: loafers(white or cream to give the outfit a bit more color), boat shoes (obviously these are the definitive look in a males spring and summer shoe wardrobe)- for boat shoes I would recommend getting the original brown leather ones first, then customizing them later. For pants or shorts, go for color. My favorite colors would include: yellow, mint, cobalt blue, pink, light blue, and white. These basic colors will allow for a ton of styling choices. Lastly, there are many types of clothing items that one could wear on the top. I would recomend light and pastel colored oxfords, they go with everything and can be worn buttoned down, buttoned up with a bow tie, or placed under a blazer. Polo's are also very popular and look good with literally everything. Just remember that color is key in the spring and summer, as well as incorporating your own "flair" into your outfits through accesories. I hope this helps you out.
That sounds a lot like what I wear!
I don't wear a lot of colored pants though, usually I wear Khaki's, that's an interesting thought though.
Think I'll try that one out :P
Yeah, I love oxfords with windbreakers, probably my favorite thing to wear, of course it's getting near the Summer so that's kinda hot especially where I live.
I've been thinking about trying out those Hollister Polo's that are covered in flowers and boats and stuff. They sort of look like the kind of shirts my Dad might wear, but a little bit more stylish and Hollister-esque. I think those, along with some colored shorts and boat shoes might look nice.
I've been thinkin' about rockin' these Vans Boatshoes that are white with little palm trees on them. They look sick, I think they'd look great in the summer :D
Breece, I can't picture you rocking out on your drums wearing khakis and a polo :)
Oh but it happens :D
Here's a beautiful self portrait I had made by Mozart.
Yes. It's a self portrait that Mozart made.
Mozart made it too.
I did mention that.
I took control of Mozart and used his body to make it.
Even though he's a composer.
I did it anyways.

If it's not obvious enough by the URL I just wanted to mention that this is not in fact me.
*in tiny text* it's my hollywood cru-
WHO SAID THAT.
SHUT UP SELF.
No freakin way! He's MY crush too!
this is weird :P
:O :O :O
Great minds think alike.
And so do ours...
Im a girl. If I saw a guy who cared about how he dressed and what he looked like i would think he was smart, kind, and polite. Button down shirts are cool, but make sure you don't button them up too high. The hard part is you can't make it look like you tried, more like you just woke up and threw something on.
Girl!. :) The most attractive thing ever is if a boy has a good style. Abercrombie, Hollister, and American Eagle are the BEST.. I love when guys where those brands. I like someone who can look cute but comfortable. I really like flannel/plaid shirts with the sleeves rolled up to the elbow. :)
And for shoes, I like Nikes. :)
