Preppy Dress Style

I personally feel that the "emo" population kind of discriminates against people who like to dress nice, or "preppy" as I've heard people call it.

Personally, I like to wear button down shirts,  khaki shorts and some nice pair of brown shoes like Sperrys or Dockers.  I also like to keep my hair fairly short (see: normal length) and not dye it funky colors and use obscene amounts of hair gel to turn it into ridiculous shapes.

I'll occasionally wear a bracelet or necklace (the kind that guys wear, usually brown, maybe with beads or a cross) but other than that I don't like piercings, tatoos or other body art.

Anybody else that doesn't feel the need to be rebellious in order to be themselves? :)

I don't know if i've made this clear or not but I'm a guy, might make more sense in that context :)

I feel exactly the same way! I also like to dress in modest but cute clothing, and although I like to experiment sometimes, I think multiple body peircings (aside from ear lobes and naval peircings) and any kind of tattoo looks extremely unnattractive. However, if a person feels that they want to do this, then it is their own body to do with as they please, in order to be themselves. I think that whatever you feel comfortable wearing is what you should wear. Peircings, hair dye anf tattoos though, just aren't for me.

I feel the same!  Of course it's not our decision to make about what other people can do, but personally I can't see myself ever getting a piercing or tatoo.

I think the oddest things I do dressing wise is wear skinny jeans (only sometimes) and also I like to casually wear ties (like to school and stuff).

Nice to know someone feels the same!

There's nothing wrong with dressing preppy. I've noticed emos hate on simply dressed people as well. They also hate on me, but I have a boho/rock type style that my friends call space cowboy, then again, they could just hate on me because of my comments about their negativity in conversation, but whatever. We're not here to impress anyone, we're here to be ourselves. I've always kind of envied the preppy people because they look so put together. I can't tell if they roll out of bed looking perfect, or spend hours making themselves look perfect.

Well I have a wide range outfit variations that I will wear on a given day. Sometimes black skinnies and a cute shirt. Or maybe a knee length skirt and a cardigan. I guess I am "preppy" sometimes but I don't like to define my personal style with just one genre of style. I'm everywhere with what I wear but I don't feel like being rebellious is necessary, sometimes when the mood strikes some people might feel like its a good way to be expressive I guess?

I feel the same way! I do not need to wear crazy clothing to be noticed! Of course since I'm a girl I wear jewelry sometimes. Haha I'm glad someone else feels that way.
