I don't really like stereotypes. I especially can't stand this new "hipster" thing. Now anybody who was unique or dressed differently or did anything remotely expressive... just because I like to layer clothes, wear fringe-y scarves, and handmade flowers in my hair DOES NOT MEAN I'M HIPSTER. I'm just me. I didn't dye my hair red or buy vintage because "it's so hipster." It was because I liked it. I do not listen to Young the Giant or Ingrid Michaelson (who is awesome, by the way) because it's Indie, its because I like them. >:( *venting finished*

I totally feel the same way. I dress in what I like. My hair used to have red streaks in it because it's what I  wanted. Now everyone is starting to want "the hipster" look with colored hair and the style I liked. I've gotten a lot of "your such a hipster" comments lately. Hey, it's my style! I'm not a label!

Then again...I'm not too into "Indie" music. It's just that I dress that makes people think I do...

Those the people that hang out in Harvard square and go to urban outfitters? They're funny, it's like they're trying to act poor when they come from middle class families. Reminds me of the hippie generation.

I love "hipster" style. Just because I've always loved vintage things though. I wish I lived back in the 60s/70s when times were simpler. The whole hipster thing doesn't really bother me, mostly because it doesn'tm ean a bad thing. I just don't like when people pretend, just as @sorla said, don't act poor if your not. I hate how money determines how people behave and interact with others. Why should money define who you are, and what your personality is?
I love sharing my opinion. c:

People will label and judge everyone, and there's nothing you can do to stop that. But what you can do is not let what they say get to you.

I don't really take the hipster thing that seriously. There obviously are people that wear and act like what they think is cool and they're unimportant, but if someone does 'hipster' things and that's just how they are, for example my friend, I call her a hipster all the time just as a joke. It's just another label really. It doesn't mean much.

I think that "hipster" is some people's way of describing people who are different or more expressive. Some people like the idea of being a so called hipster but some (as you said) just like things that fall into the "hipster" category. Better hipster than diva right? Anyway I don't think it is a negative thing.

There's nothing wrong with being "hipster" as long as thats just your style, you're not trying to be something you  arent. make your own choices, express yourself, and ignore anyone who tries to label you
