((Hmmm..could work too. I don't mind either way, I can play Rachel on her own. And Tamas wouldn't be on his own for long, he'd get joined up with David adn Ms. Engel soon enough.
Anyway it's up to you.
Wanna skip to morning?))
((Lets have them together, cause if they spilt up we have the problem of getting them back together. Yea we really don't have anything else to do tonight. :) ))
((OK. cool with me))
The guards came in around midnight or 11 O'clock. They starte dyelling,
"EVERYONE GET OUTSIDE FOR ROLE CALL!" Anyone found in here will be punished, get outside!" they yelled making all sorts of noise. Rachel woke up quickly, she shook Tamas's shoulder. IT was pitch black out.
"Time to get up." she whispered. She climbed down and joined teh clatter of plastic clogs as people rushed outside and into formation. Tamas would have to line up next to Rachel where her other bunk mate used to.
Rachel's eyes were redder today. Her left one was swolen shut, she'd accidently rubbed them in her sleep last night making the irrtation worse. She hoped she wouldn't have expierementation today.
((David adn Aruna would still be sleeping now right? Unless the ghetto ruins are close enough to their camp they hear everyone waking up?))
((Yea they'd be sleeping :) ))
At the sound of the gaurds, Tamas's arm tightened protectively around Rachel. Quickly he let go of her, and sat up, not needing her shake to tell him it was time to get up. He sighed and climbed down to the floor quickly, not wanting to stand out. Role call hun? He wouldn't be on the role call, hopefully no one would notice him.
Tamas fist balled up as he went out and stood in line, next to Rachel. There were so many factors he didn't know, he would have to be extremly careful.
Glancing over at Rachel Tamas eyes softened. She would have to get treatment for her eyes soon if she was to prevent going completly blind.
The guards went down the list, they listened for the person to call out here. The gaurds only used the person's number. They didn't seem to ntive Tamas.
There were a few numbers that didn't respond. Rachel's eyes saddened when the full role call didn't show. It usaully happened, but it still made her sad. It meant some epople had died over night.
A guard walked down the line and pulled a few of the younger straonger en out of line,
"Go get the bodies dump 'em in the hole!" they were told.
Tamas's fists clenched but that was the only outward sign of his anger. He had learned how to hold in emotions so no one could tell your thoughts. It was basic training but Tamas had never been one much for rules, anyone trying to tell him what to do.
He glanced at Rachel and his thoughts were confirmed, these were fresh dead that were being put uncermonisously into a hole. He tooka deep breath and unclenched his fists as to not draw any attention to them or himself.
Rachel was glad she was so small, she couldn't see the dead when they were hauled out and taken to the mass grave one side of camp. Rachel had seen the grave yesterday when she was to dump the bucket of blood, guts, and body parts in it from cleaning the experiment rooms. It was getting full, they'd burn it soon to empty the hole for more bodies.
Rachel hated the burning, the whole camp wreaked for days.
A tall man in a German officer's uniform, glasses, dark brown hair and mustache and bright blue eyes walked down the lines of prisoners. Stopping here and there to check one out. He stopped at Rachel and turned her face up to his. Using his gloved hand he attempted to part her swollen eye lid on her left eye to see how it was doing he also checked the right one out, fingering the swollen and irritated outside and shining a penlight on the pupil of it
"Hmmm.." he said, "376663 will be on clean up all day today. I want her to have an ice pack on her left eye at all times." he ordered. The man wasn't ordering this for Rachel's comfort, but so he could get a closer look at her eye and the damage he'd done to it. Rachel and gritted her teeth through the whole ordeal to not show the man how much it'd hurt when he messed with her yee, she'd just tightened her jaw and kept a albiet pained but determined and defiant smile on her small face
The man kept walking, looking Tamas up and down,
"He'll be cleaning too, we have some bodies from last night's test and punishments that need to be moved." he said heartlessly as he walked on.
Tamas kept his eyes ahead so he didn't have to see the bodies being dragged out. He knew that the ghettos were bad, he even knew all this happened, but to watch it, to do nothing... He took a deep breath.
Tamas kept his eyes trained straight ahead and didn't look at the man whom seemed to be tproding Rachel's eyes. He showed nothing of what he was feeling and to the simple observer he seemed to be used to it and uncaring.
The man stopped by him and said he'd be cleaning and following Rachel's example he said nothing. The man moved on. Hopefully he wouldn't be with Rachel, he wouldn't be able to move around with someone knowing him. Tamas glanced at Rachel, then grabbed her hand and gave it a sqeeze before letting go.
Role call was finished finally and people were dismissed to their tasks. Rachel was sent to mop and clean an experimentation room. She'd wanted Tamas to be with her, but he was led away to take bodies out of solitary confinement, punishment and experiment room.
All experimentation places were underground so Rachel went down the stairs, holding a bucket of cold water that was almost half her size and water was sloshing out onto her skirt. She had to go back up and get the rags before going into the first room.
Rachel hated the underground,s he couldn't count the amount of times she'd been tortured down here or had to clean up. She had nightmares because of this place.
All the tools were removed and cleaned by the guards so the prisoners couldn't steal them. Rachel started cleaning off the table used as an operating or whatever table. It was covered in blood and what smelled like urine.
A guard came in with an eye patch and put it on Rachel. The eyepatch was an ice pack and Rachel suck her breath in it was so cold.
((Want David and Aruna to wake up soon or not?))
((I don't care, you can decide :) ))
Tamas nodded and went off to the experimental places and jerked at the sight of the dead bodies. They lay everywhere some piled on tables, in corners or just left where they fell. They were mutated. Limbs torn off, faces completly destroyed, various body parts strewn across the floor.
Tamas swalloed and grabbed one body, starting to drag it to the door. There were several people around, just enough that he could slip away he brought the body out to the hole and closed his eyes at the sight. With a shudering breath he tossed the body in and sped away, losing his cover for the minute.
Tamas came to himself outside a building he didn't know, without a soul around. He took in a deep breath to steady himself and crept around the corner. He spent awhile finding the main builds and found them gaurded by many men. Of course he'd have to do that. With a sigh he started.
Rachel lugged a bocuket pretty much filled with blood run out of rags and some other nasty things. The bucket was heavy and she ahd to take a few breaks on her way out to The Hole. She poured the bucket, trying not to breath in the smell of decay, flies, and death that hung around The Hole. She started back dragging the bucket behind her.
Rachel moved slowly on her way back, trying to prolong going back down to the expierement rooms. Her skirt was stained from the sloshing bucket, she'd try to get that out later.
David awoke at sunrise. He blanket before packing it away, placing his gun back in his belt and sitting donw on a log. She started to clean his M-16 with a rag.
"Ms. Engel, you should get going." he suggested
(Sorry to intrude but Runner. I've replied to our thread literally a week ago :P Either you haven't seen it or you're disinterested in continuing. I'd just like to know whether or not to stop checking the site.)
((Sorry I saw it, and I'm still interested, but I couldn't think of what to say. I'll go post on it. Again I'm sorry.))
Tamas snuck into the building useing his cleaning as a escuse. He had less than three minutes before they'd expect him to come out with something. Fast as a fly, he checked the building, snooping around. In a little while he left, more or less snuck out. He went back to continue with the bodies, barely able to keep up the outside uncaring man he was soposed to be. He talked to no one and closed his eyes from looking intoo the Hole.
Aruna looked over at him, having just woken up. Dang it, I fell asleep! And he really plans on letting me go? She watched him clean his gun and decided not to press her chances. Besides she had class today, if she didn't go back soon, they were going to get suspious. "Thank you," Aruna said stifly and took her flashlight, the only thing here that she hadn't given him. She turned to the path and nodded once at him before going.
Rachel was extremely tired by the time the midday meal came. The prisoners only got to eat at midday usaully. On holidays they didn't eat.
The prisoners were forced into one long lines to wait for food. Rachel was stuck near the back. Lunch came early usaully becuase it took a long time to run all the prisoners of the over crowded camp and get them food. Food consisted of some sort of potato and wheat gruel with bits of unknown meat and soggy vegetables mixed in. It was tastless porridge with a horrible texture, but it was all Rachel ever remembered eating so she never complained.
David nodded back. After she was out of sight he quickly packed his bags. He was moving camp, he ocudln't stay in the same place, couldn't risk her telling. He started to trudge in the general direction of east. He didn't want to get the coast and have no where else to go. He headed towards the town, meaning to skirt it when he got there so he wouldn't be caught.
Tamas noticed when the other guys working, left and Tamas followed them. He wasn't sure exactly what to do, but considering it was around lunchtime, they might be getting lunch. It wasn't long before the smell hit him and he almost gagged, it smelt awful. Yet it was obviously meant to be food. Tamas grit his teeth and stepped in line.
He looked up and down the rows, and saw Rachel a couple people in front of him. Deciding that the people wouldn't take kindly to him going up the line to her, he stayed where he was. He'd eat with her if he could.
Aruna got into town without trouble. Even at her house, there wasn't any sign of anyone checking or anything. She went in hesitantly, then darted in and shut the door behind her.
Aruna grabbed food from the kitchen and checked the time. Da.nm, I'm late! Aruna raced outside with her food and down to the school. She got into her classroom about ten minutes late and quickly started class, only to find she had forgotten the plants for the demonstration at home. Forgoing the demonstration she simply had the class take notes.
All throughout her classes, Aruna couldn't stop thinking about that man. How was he going to get out? She could proably help him, but could he in return keep her town safe? Or would he attack first chance he got? Her trust of him had gone up a little bit when he didn't kill her last night.
Rachel finally got her bowl of food and plastic spoon. SHe went and put her food down at one of the long tables in the food hall. They weren't allowed to eat yet. The camp commandant, Emeric Schnieder had some sort of announcement to make before anybody was allowed to eat. Rachel stood like everyone else behind the hard long bench used for sitting. She stared straight ahead.
Rachel was exhausted. She'd been dragging buckets half her size around all day, her arms hurt, she was cold, and her uniform had splashed in water, blood, and everything else she'd been cleaning. PLus the eye patch on her eye was making it difficult for her to see without turning her head and her other eyes hurt
It was around midday when David sat down to grab something small to eat. He had passed the city enterence and was currently attempting to skirt the city. He ke[t the city walls in sight, but stayed out of sight of them.
He couldn't stop thinking of Aruna, wondering if sh egot in time. He hadn't heard shooting, then again the REGB weren't known for their swift punishments. He hoped he hadn't been part of her getting hurt. David pulled some c.r.a.c.k.e.r.s from an old MRE out of his bag and started to nibble on them
Tamas got his food and went next to Rachel, glancing at her. Since no one else was sitting or eating, he followed the group, and stayed standing, holding his food. The commandant stood at the front of the room.
Aruna finished her classes and went to grab some lunch. She was done with work for the day and she went to her house. after haveing a hurried lunch, Aruna went to the 'self-help' offices and requested a private phone call. Of course it was recorded and in no way private, but that didn't matter. Th phone rang seven times before she hung up and redailed. Then it was picked up after the first ring. She made plans to have dinner with the guy on the phone, never once saying anything conspicuous. the whole conversation was under thirty second, so no one could trace the reciver. when the lady behind the desk asked politly who she called, Aruna said, "A friend from colledge. Haven't seen him in awhile."
Aruna walked to the edge of town and went down towards the ghettos, under the pretense of getting more plants.
"Listen up!" Schnieder called throughout the dining halll after everyone got their food and was standing.
"The Hole is too full as many of you know. Tonight will be a burning night. I want everyone to watch what happens to you scum when you're no longer useful. There will be no getting out of it. The burning will happen after evening role call. I sthat understood, numbers?" he said.
"Yes, commandant Schnier!" resounded through the out the room,
"You may eat." he siad leaving. Rachel quickly sat down and satrte dto shovel food into her mouth. She hate dburning though adn would probably throw up later due to the smell that came with the burning of the bodies in the hole.
David stiffened when he thought he heard someone leave twn. He was close enough to the enterence to here the gates open and close. Putting his rucksack under a bush he crept back a ways, staying in the cover of the tress adn undergrowth.
David was surpirsed to see Aruna walking down the path, he wondered what she was doing and kept following her, now nd then looking back to see how far from town they'd gotten.
