Ben thanked her for the food and started eating his, trying not to show how hunery he actually was. Still the sandwhich was gone very quickly. He looked up at her and responded, "Just tired of the things I do." Ben could feel the flashdrive in his pocket, he had read everything on it.
Hali cocked her head to the side, "What do you mean?" She asked and leaned back in the arm chair. "A-and what happened to you... if you don't mind me asking?" She was curious as to what Ben had done, nobody gets that beat up without a legitimate reason... right?
Ben stiffened, she couldn't know anything, it would just put her into harm. The less she knew the safer she was. "I'm tired of trying to do some things when it all most never works out right." Changing the subject he said, "You never did tell me your name."
Hali nodded and cleared her throat, "I see." She mumbled. She didn't pry any further, if he didn't want to tell her than she didn't need to know. "My name is Hali." She brushed a crumb or two off of her shorts and set her plate aside before glancing at the clock and sky rocketing out of her seat. "Oh crap!"
Hali nodded and cleared her throat, "I see." She mumbled. She noticed his obvious discomfort with the question and didn't pry any further, if he didn't want to tell her than she didn't need to know. "My name is Hali." She brushed a crumb or two off of her shorts and set her plate aside before glancing at the clock and sky rocketing out of her seat. "Oh cr.ap!"
Ben jumped in alarm and asked worriedly, "What, what happened?" Hali...
((Sorry, I can't think of anything else to say ;) ))
((No problem :P ))
Hali looked over at Ben, "Sorry for startling you...I had an appointment in town a little over half an hour ago." She laughs a bit. "Boy does time ever fly..." I hope she's still there.
Ben relaxed and smiled, "Whoa, you better get going, you're already really late." Ben's golden eyes watched her, and then he asked, "Do you have a computor here that I could use while you are gone?"
Hali laughed, "Yeah." She pushed her braids off her shoulders and looked towards him. "I have a laptop that you could use... though you could come to town with me if you'd like? I'm going to be about two hours or so."
Ben thought about it for a second, then stood up. He had to lean heavily on the couch, one hand on the back of the couch and the other on his leg. Ben half sat half feel back onto the couch, "I don't think moving would be a good idea right now. Thanks though." Ben gave her a smile hiding the pain and energy it had taken to even stand. If someone finds me like this... I have to leave soon.
((Jeez I keep spelling fell as feel! Oh well, and I do I have something that he can be doing on the computor, so theres no rush :) ))
Hali nodded and grabbed her laptop for him, logging in and then setting it on the couch next to him. "There you go, I'll be back soon. If you need anything my cellphone number is on the fridge."
Ben nodded, "Alright thanks." He waited until he was sure she was gone, then he dug the flashdrive out of his pocket. Making sure to be very careful with it, he plugged it in and opened the files. He scanned through them quickly, looking for anything he might have missed before.
Hali hopped in her truck and headed to town. She did some shopping, picking up some groceries and a few other things before heading to the appointment she was already late for. Fortunatly everyone was still there waiting for her, though they were not impressed they still proceeded with business.
Ben frowned at the screne as he read and eventually it blurred before him as his eyes filled with tears. Furiously he wiped them away and sat back, he had no idea what he was really looking for. Ben sighed, then on the computor settings and turned off the internet, hopefully to keep from being tracked. Ben pushed aside the computor and stood up leaning heavily on the couch. He tryed to walk around and fell a few times. Eventually he sat back down and put his head in his hands. He was endangering Hali.
Hali finished her business in town and drove home. She got out of her truck and slammed her door closed before grabbing the things she bought and running into the house. She dropped the bags on the dining room table and leaned against the wall trying to hold back tears. She hated going into town...
Ben jumped when he heard her slam the truck door. Quickly he closed the document without saving it, then earsed it from the hard drive. Taking out the flash drive he stuffed it into his pocket and cllosed the laptop. When she didn't come into the room for a little while, Ben stood and found her in what he took to be the dining room. Ben went to her, steading himself against the wall. "Hey are you alright?"
Hali looked to the floor, trying to calm herself down before she looked up at Ben and nodded, "Yeah, I'm okay." She gave him a small smile before grabbing the bags that contained groceries and taking them into the kitchen so she could put them away. Every single time... they never fail to bring that up, do they... She sighed and started emptying bags.
Ben frowned, worryed, but let it slide. Whatever it was she obviously didn't want to talk about it. Ben watched her go, then made his slow treck back to the couch. Once there he slid onto the couch with a sigh. What was he going to do?
Hali finished with the groceries and then went to pick up another bag from the table, she went into the living room and set it next to Ben. "I got you some shirts and jeans... I kind of guessed at the sizing so I don't know what will fit or not." She told him, nodding to the bag.
