((I still get mad at myself, I'm horrible with grammer and spelling! Ah well, thanks :) ))
Ben didn't stir as she left the room but looked at her as she came back. She had first aid suppies with her that she put in front of the couch. Ben watched her wearily. He trusted her now, at least to not take out a knife and attack him. I guess I just haven't been with normal people in awhile. Ben watched the girl kneel down next to him, and he made an effort to sit up as if it would help.
Hali shook her head quickly as he tried to sit up, "No, no. You don't have to sit up... just, uhm, show me where most of the cuts and stuff are." She opened the first aid kit and set out a bottle of rubbing alcohol and some bandages before picking up the cloth. She dipped it into the warm water and carefully wiped some of the blood from his arms.
Ben leaned back forcing himself to keep his eyes open. He bit his lip knowing that he would have to take his shirt off This is not the time for embarrasment! Ben took off his shirt, showing his bruise-covered chest. He had multiple cuts but mostly surface cuts, the only major injurys were the cut on his leg and his broken arm.
Hali blushed a pale pink when the young man removed his shirt. She dipped the cloth back into the water and cleaned up the blood on his torso before picking up the rubbing alcohol and a cotton pad. "Uhm, this is going to sting a little." She mumbled, waiting for a response before she proceeded.
Ben nodded and looked at her. She was blushing, and he had to fight to keep himself from blushing too. Gah this is not to time for me to be embarresed! Suck it up. Ben forced himself still and said his voice level, "I understand, go ahead."
Hali nodded and pressed the cotton pad against one of the cuts before moving to another and another. She bandaged a few of the slightly deeper cuts and set the cotton pad and rubbing alcohol aside. "What else? How about your leg?"
Ben drew in deep breaths as she pressed to the cuts to keep himself from crying out or flinching. She bandaged the deeper cuts and put aside the rubbing alcohol. Ben peered at his leg, "I'm not sure." Putting a hand to it, Ben flinched and pulled away right away. Careful not to touch his leg, he ripped the fabric to expose the cut. The cut was just above his knee.
Hali looked at the now exposed wound on his leg and frowned. She placed her hand just beside it and pressed down lightly watching some blood pour out of it. "This one is going to need stitches..." She mumbled and searched through the first aid kit again, pulling out a small hooked needle and some thread. "How are you doing?" She asked, looking to his face. She knew how much pain he was probably in and she felt bad that she didn't have anything to numb the pain.
Ben watched her wairly then screwed his eyes shut when she pressed down on his leg letting out a small gasp. After she pulled away Ben opened his eyes and leaned back a small bit when she looked him in the face which she hadn't been doing before. He took a moment to answer, but when he did , his voice was calm, "It hurt worse to obtain the cut. I'm sure I can handle stiches."
Hali nodded slowly, she looked down at the wound again and sighed. "This one will have to be cleaned too... there's dirt in it." She pushed herself up and walked out of the room, returning with another clean cloth. She knelt down in her previous place and handed him the cloth, "You might want to bite down on this..."
Ben looked at the cloth causiously. This girl obviously knew medicince by the way she was handling it. If she was suggesting he had to bite down on something, Ben had to take her seriously. Ben took the cloth and put it in his mouth. A small line appeared between his eyebrows and Ben removed the cloth from his mouth to say, "Sorry, you are doing all of this when you don't even know my name. I'm Ben." He put the cloth back into his mouth and gripped to arms of the couch. Then Ben nodded, prepared for the pain.
Hali gave him a warm smile, "Nice to meet you, Ben. I'll tell you my name if you can get through this without passing out on me." She joked and picked up the cloth that she had been using to clean his cuts. She rinsed it off, making sure it was pretty damp before she gently pressed it to the wound on his leg.
Ben smiled softly and took deep breaths. She pressed it to his leg and it took all of his willpower to not scream. Ben gritted his teeth on the cloth and gripped the couch, his knocles turning white. His eyes snapped shut.
Hali bit her lip and cleaned out the wound before quickly threading the needle. She made fast work of the sitches, keeping them neat and as clean as possible. Soon she was finished and bandaged up his leg over the stitches. "There." She wiped her hands on her shorts, put the needle in the bowl of water with the cloth and looked up at his face.
Ben hadn't moved as she cleaned and stiched but when she pulled away he opened his eyes worriedly watching her. When it was clear she was done Ben's hands went to his leg, pressing over the wound. He pulled back after a second, not want to mess up the stiches. The stiches hurt the most, but mostly everything felt better than before. Ben smiled at the girl, his eyes filled with gratitude, "Thank you. Thank you so much!"
Hali smiled back, "You're welcome. I don't think those stitches will rip, just try not to do anything extravagent for the next few days while it tries to heal up, okay?" She cleaned up the stuff and put it away, making sure to toss out the needle and cloth. She grabbed a glass of water and some pain medication before going back into the living room and handing them to Ben.
Ben took the pills and swallowed them without the water. Then he took the water and downed the glass, becoming aware of the fact that he was thirsty. Ben stared at the ground. This girl had helped him a lot, but he couldn't ask any more of her. Ben bit his lip, he had no cash on him, nothing to pay with so he couldn't go to a hotel or anything else. Coming to a desion Ben asked her, still staring at the ground, "Um, I'm sorry but I have no where to go. Would you mind if I slept in your barn? I promiss I wo't hurt the animals and I'll be gone before you come out in the morning."
Hali cocked her head to the side and leaned against the back of the couch, looking down at him. "There is no reason for you to sleep out in the barn. I have a spare bedroom you can stay in, plus you really shouldn't be going anywhere until that leg is healed up." She stood up straight and headed into the kitchen. "Are you hungry, Ben?" She asked loud enough for him to hear.
Ben bit his lip still staring at the ground. He closed hs eyes and very quietly said, "But..." This wasn't just him trying to be out of her way, he wanted this girl to be out of danger too. Out of the danger that he had brought here. When she asked him if he was hungry Ben called back, "Just a little." Ben wanted to stay out of her way.
Hali made them each a sandwich and went back into the living room. She set the plate with his sandwich on his lap and then took a seat in a small arm chair next to the couch with her own. "Are you alright?" She asked, taking a bite into her food. Hali was curious about him, he looked pained and not just from the wounds and cuts... it was as if he was having an internal battle with himself.
