((Sorry for the wait))
Rachel took a deep breath. She didn't want to fight all the elite at once. If they could defeat one, it might make the others fear them. She gulped down her fear and chose one of the images that Michael sent her. She cleared the smoke in front of him and pushed him foward. The man walked foward slowly.
Rachel narrowed her eyes at him and asked, "What's your name?" The man watched them with caluclating eyes. He smiled lazily and asked, "Which one of you is the mind reader?" Rachel didn't glance at Michael and tried not to show any of her suprise. For some reason she got the feeling she shouldn't tell him Michael was the mind reader.
He rolled his neck, "Supose it doesn't matter, you'll reveal yourselves soon enough." He lunged foward at Rachel, drawing a dagger. She sang a soft note and cut his hand deep enough for him to drop the knife and dodged his lunge. He straightened her turned back to them, ignoring his bleeding hand. He looked at Michael and smiled, "So you're the mind reader."
He started for Michael, but Rachel stepped in front of him, protecting Michael. The man growled, "Let Harran go."
Harran could hear the whole exchange but he couldn't get beyond the smoke, nor could he yell out orders. Jarran and Ria were on either side of him. Harran smiled, after so long, they finally had the two from the Prophecy in their reach.
((I forgot, what was it the army wanted Rachel and Michael for?))
((I don't think we officially decided...they were either going to try and get them on their side or just eliminate them, I think. idk))
Michael watched the man blankly. if knife throwing was the best he had, Michael didn't see any reason to be worried. Rachel hardly even needed her powers to beat him, and Michael was sure he could incapacitate him if things got dangerous.
He felt a little nervous at being called out as the mind reader, but supposed it didn't put him in any more danger than he was already in. Michael was tempted to stop the man from attacking, but realized from the man's demand that he had to keep Harran silent. For whatever reason, they were reliant on their leader.
"Rachel..." Michael said softly, still using most of his energy to contain Harran, "stop him...make an example for the others..." Their only hope of not having to kill everyone was getting them to surrender, and that would only be possible if Rachel started scaring them now.
((oooh I looked back and it seems like we decided the army was trying to harness Rachel and Michael's powers so they can...idk, take over the world? so the army probably wants them alive but just barely so they can harness their powers))
((Okay thanks. Wow TI's gotten busy! I don't reply for a day and it's on the second page :) It's nice))
The man studdied his hand with apparent intrest. Rachel took the moment to take a deep breath, she could do this. Maybe not be okay afterwards, but this would hopefully be the last of it. With a heavy heart, Rachel sent a spike of smoke straight down at his heart.
With amazing, Wanda-fast, speed, the man dodged. He didn't move any more than he needed to, just enough to evade her smoke. She stared at him with wide eyes and he laughed. He grinned and said, "You should have killed me first." He darted towards Michael.
Rachel desprately sheilded Micheal with a wall of smoke and the man drew up short. He drew another knife, from where Rachel couldn't see, and turned toward her. She flicked some smoke at him but he dodged with ease. Her eyes narrowed, if it was going to be like this, then things would get messy.
Harran calmed his mind, he could overthrow the mind reader. Slowly he built up his strength and then pushed as hard as he could against Michael.
((You can decide if Michael is overthrown. (My guess would be no, since all of Michael's attentions are focused on him).))
((I don't know, I think you give Michael too much credit, haha))
Michael couldn't pay close attention to the fight, but just from how drawn out it was, he could tell there was a problem. Even if Rachel wasn't going for the kill, she should at least have incapacitated him by now, yet the man appeared virtually unharmed.
The wall of smoke scared him more than the man did, but not enough for him to lose his grip on Harran. He was used to Rachel's smoke--to an almost terrifying degree--but it still concerned him. Rachel seemed to be going all out, and this was against someone with no apparent powers. How strong were these elite?
Harran's sudden upheaval broke Michael's total control for a second or so before he took it back. He had been letting his mind wander, forgetting that the longer he held Harran, the harder it would be.
"Rachel, please hurry," Michael murmured. His legs shook as he continued focusing all his energy on Harran, nearly sending him into the deadly black wall.
Rachel and the man fought, and they fought hard. Neither one was getting signifigantly hurt, but the man was getting stronger the longer he foughts. Rachel was shocked, it was like he was adapting, the longer exposed, the better he was against her powers. Michael's words floated to the surface of her mind, make an example of him.
She knew she needed to. It didn't matter how nasty it sounded, it needed to be done. She sang loudly, but didn't send the smoke straight out to surround him. She cut him off from her and Michael, and used the smoke that was already on the town edges to advance inward on him. She closed the top: there would be no escape. Rachel steeled herself, and let the smoke collapse inward, killing the man. There was one high scream, and then nothing.
Rachel took a shakey breath, and glanced at Michael, but Michael was so wrapped in his mind, Rachel wasn't sure he even knew what was going on. She turned to the wall of smoke, seperating them from their enemies.
Harran heard his man's scream and then dead silence. It was just as well, they were all smarter now.
((I was thinking that the elite don't really have powers, but they've been trained to "adapt" to anything, which is why Harran so quickly overcame Michael.))
(( bump :) ))
((sorry for the wait!
OK, so did you want me to play someone who fights Rachel next? With Michael focusing on Harran, there's not much for him to do...))
((Sure that sounds good. Just make up another elite :) ))
