Megan looked at him suprized, "Aren't we in danger most of the time? Why is it different now?" She looked at the adults, none of them seemed happy now. She frowned and stamped her foot, "See now everyone's unhappy!" She heaved a sigh and sat on the ground pouting and being moody.
Rachel's eyes widened and she put a hand to her head. She was well educated sure, but it seemed like nothing compared to what Megan got. Though Megan was an only child... she thought about it for a second, and then knelt next to the pouting Megan. She asked slowly, "How does your teacher know so much about this guy?"
Megan's pout stayed firmed in place as she murmmered, "Teacher says he knows the rumors. Why?" She couldn't help but be a bit curious. Rachel bit her lip and answered, "Because I got some good teachings and I never heard of a Darenx. Are you sure this wasn't a story he told?"
Megan nodded, "It's real. Daddy said so." Rachel gulped and looked at Axon, "Do you know anything about this guy?"
((So do I. Just my last post was 6 paragraphs, a little long... ))
((Sorry about my sporadic posting, got two competitions right on top of each other this weekend and I'm stressing out :S ))
Axon shook his head slowly, eyes darting about randomly as he racked his brain. "Sorry, I haven't. I've been introduced to so many people over the years, it's all a blur..I don't know if I've seen him or not.." He cursed himself for not being able to remember when it was this important. His memory was what could turn this from one of Megan's fantasies to a serious threat to them all.
Michael rolled his eyes, sighing a big loudly in frustration. Whether due to his powers or just by coincidence, he didn't have much trouble remembering things. Couldn't this idiot even know whether he had met a guy like this before?
"Well, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, right?" Axon chuckled weakly, his hands retreating back into their pockets. "With you two, I mean." He fliched at how pathetic he sounded, but he knew he and Megan wouldn't be much help. What could they do, tickle them?
((It's fine, and I'm sorry that I haven't been on for like three days. Hope your compitions are going well.))
Rachel nodded, "Guess there is really only one way to find out. We have to go into the town. After all, we can't just leave this town to it's fate." She sighed and glanced up at the sky. Ten minutes ago all was peaceful, adn then they meet these two and both Michael and Axon are hiding something, and then this. She would find out what they were hiding before they parted ways again.
Megan looked back and forth between the big kids and grinned. She jumped up and half yelled, "Yay! Adventure time! We gonna go catch some bad guys!" She grabbed Axon's hand and stretched out to grab Michael's hand. Once she had them both she smiled and started foward.
((Thanks, they went fine. Now I'm just waiting for Spring Break...are u on yours yet?))
Axon squeezed Megan's hand deliberately, as though claiming her as his own. He couldn't change the way she thought about Michael, but he had to hold on to her as long as he could. His eyes began to prickle, and he blinked away the moisture that had begun to build up. I...I can't be alone again...
Michael rolled his eyes, accepting Megan's outstretched hand and giving it a squeeze of his own. Not like he had to try or anything, there was no way she'd chose Axon over him...right? He had no way of knowing for sure--it was Megan, after all--and they had spent a lot of time together.
Whatever, I don't need my powers for this. Piece of cake, he thought, a bit nervously. He tried to distact himself by doing a routine sweep of the town. Nothing stuck out, but that hardly meant it was safe. "What did you say this guy's name was again?" he asked Megan, turning his head down to hers.
((No ours isn't until the second week in April. Glad they went well! :)
And of course, now that they are done fighting over Rachel they start over Megan. Typical Micheal and Axon, tsk tsk :) ))
Megan looked between them curiously as they started to squeeze her hands. She couldn't help but agree with Rachel something funny was up. She could sense that they were being serious though, so she would save her interrogation for later. “Darenx. That's his name.” She wondered if they had never heard of him before, he was pretty much common knowledge in her town.
Rachel's mind spun, having forgotten her spat with the boys. Had she heard of this Darenx before? She didn't think that she had, but what if she was wrong and had some sort of crucial information about him? She bit her lip as they started to approach the town. What if it was a trap? She closed her eyes, she had had enough pain she didn't need any more to burden herself with.
So did you want them to find Darenx or the other way around?))
As they came into view of the town, Michael strained for a sign of Darenx. He couldn't find anything decisive. Yes, some people seemed to recognize the name, but due to its strangeness, he couldn't be sure. It was just fleeting gossip, and those memories were never solid. For all Michael could tell, they had just confused Darenx for Larynx or some other funny-sounding word.
Now with a moment to think clearly, Axon felt a twinge of shame for how he was behaving toward Megan. She didn't deserve to be a part of his feud with Michael. But..he didn't feel like he deserved to be cast aside so quickly, either. If this was the only way to stay with her, he had no other choice. He could only hope it wouldn't ruin everything. Then neither he nor Michael would retain her friendship..
