Gloria was happy that Jake was going to let her see the war movie. She might like it even more than cartoons, she told herself hopefully. She was fiddling with her ticket when they stopped at the snack stand, and looked up with surprise. "OH! uh..." she wasn't sure how to act...should she ask for something?
"What would you like." Jake asked Gloria.
Gloria saw that they had caramel popcorn--the perfect combination of theater food. "Uh...is caramel popcorn ok? Do you like that stuff?"
Jake smiled. "Of course. And anything to drink?" He asked.
"Um...no, just water," Gloria decided quietly. Didn't want to seem like too much of a pig. "So...have you seen this movie before?"
"You know you can have a soda if you want. You don't have to worry about wasting my money. I saved it up for today." Jake said smiling. "And yeah. I've seen it." He said.
"No, I'm pretty sure I don't need any sugary soda," Gloria said, "I promise, water is perfect. So is this movie good?"
Jake smiled and hugged Gloria. "A large water and a large box of caramel popcorn." Jake tole the cashier at the snack bar.
"Oo, a large water," Gloria joked, nudging him lightly. "Such a gentleman."
"This movies long." Jake said with a smile. "Anyways. Who doesn't like water?" He asked. He smiled and gave a small laugh. The cashier gave them the snacks and Jake took Gloria to the room playing their movie. "Where would you like to sit?" Jake asked.
Gloria immediately exclaimed, "The very front!" and pulled Jake down the aisle, giggling like a child.
Jake followed and they sat in the very front. The movie started to begin. At first it showed the maine character and hiw wife swiming and on vacation.
"Hey, do you like swimming?" Gloria asked loudly, causing other movie-watchers to "shush" her. "Oops, sorry," she whispered, "I'll be quiet, I promise."
Jake looked back at the people who shushed Gloria. He had a look that says if you shush her one more time I'll kill you. He then looked back at Gloria with a smile. "Yes I like swimming. Do you?" He asked.
"Yeah," she whispered, glancing around her anxiously in case someone else got mad at her. "we should do it together sometime. Know any good swimming spots?"
"Yeah. But we'll have to take a plane to get there. You're not scared of heights are you?" He asked smiling.
Gloria started shaking slightly, and she stuck her hands in her pockets.. "No, but...planes kinda freak me out..."
"Oh. Then we can take a boat." Jake said. He noticed Gloria didn't even touch the snacks. "Are you not hungery?" He asked.
The image of boats driving out those of planes, Gloria suddenly remembered the popcorn she so loved. She grabbed a messy handful and fit about half of it in her mouth. She looked up and Jake and blushed, feeling embarassed at her piggish display.
Jake smiled. The guy beside him tapped his shoulder and whenJake looked at the guy the guy was about to say something rude about Gloria. But Jake shot the guy a glare saying if you say anything I will kill you. The guy looked scared and looked back at the movie. Jake then looked back at Gloria. "Please ignore him." Jake said.
