Ember stared at the closing door, unsure. If she were left alone, she could contact them. But being in this room all alone... Ember hesitantly stepped foward, and sqeezed out the crack in the door. She didn't try to run from him, after all she didn't know this place.
Ace smiled slyly, but didn't say anything as Ember exited the room. He closed the door behind her and locked it with a key. Each of the rooms had a different lock, none of them were alike. Ace brought Ember onto the rear deck. No one was out there except them. It was very windy, and the waves slapped against the boat, and the spray grazed his bare skin. In the back of the boat it was especially cold. He looked over at her and stared deep into her enchanting eyes, but didn't say a word.
Ember didn't shiver from the cold, after all water could become very cold in the winter. She enjoyed the spray of water but when she glanced at Ace, he was stareing at her eyes. This she was accostmed to, after all she may be only average in her world, in his, she was beautifuly stunning. Ember ooked up at his eyes and was taen aback by the simple beauty of them. Her's were complex as all of her people's, but his were simple, nice. Now that she was looking, he was acutally cute, maybe even handsome in a rugged way. Blushing Ember looked down, anywhere but at him.
Ace blushed when he caught Ember looking at him. Studying her eyes for only a moment more, he turned his gaze away and looked down into the deep blue ocean. The waves were choppy, making the boat ride a bit rough. "We'll be stopping at an island soon enough. That way we can hopefully find a source of fresh water and more food." he muttered hopefully. "Are you um hungry?" He wasn't sure if she would be, or if she would even enjoy the meager rations of food he had to offer her.
Ember was starving. Of course she would never admit that to him. Leaning against the rail, she shook her head, “No, I was coming back from dinner when you kidnapped me.” The lie was convincing, after she did that for a living, and there was no mistaking the bitterness in her voice.
(( grr it didn't post! Now I have to type it again... :( ))
Ace nodded slowly. Obviously he believed her, no one would rightly be able to discern her lies from her truth. "Maybe you'll be hungry later princess." he muttered.
Moments later, the captain shouted, "Island ahead men! Prepare to dock!" In response one of the crew men lowered the anchor, and the boat came to a steady halt.
Ace began walking towards the ladder to get off the boat and onto the island. He turned on his heel, then stopped and turned back around. "You coming princess? This islands got some pretty nice coconuts." And with that, he walked over to the ladder and landed softly on the sandy island.
Ember walked to the edge with him and stood aside as other men got off the boat. She wasn't sure if she should follow or not. After all the boat's rocking motions were a lot more comfortable than the hard solid land. If she didn't get off, she might look a little suspious. However, she didn't want to be completly alone with Ace, she didn't trust him father than she could throw him. Slowly she climbed down the later, unaware that the boys on the ground could see her slip under her skirt as she climbed. When she was only half way down though, her foot slipped and she fell down into the water. Quickly she jumped up and rushed out of the water, her legs wobbly and her skin slightly green. Soaked she bit her lip watching the men as she came out of the water.
Ace stood to the side as the rest of the men filed off of the ship. The captain was the only one who stayed on, after all he was the captain, why should he have to do any work? As soon as all of the men were off, he studied Ember and watched her climb down. In the blink of an eye, she slipped and fell into the water. It all happened so fast, she was out of the water before he had a chance to help her. Luckily dusk was upon them, so he didn't think she'd think be able to see that he was blushing. "A little unsteady there?" he joked.
Ember didn't reply, just looked down and away from him. If he looked, he might see that she had sea legs on land which was ordinary coming off a ship. However, she stepped on the ship and adjusted with her first step. She was soaked, and the night air was just starting to come down. Of course, she didn't shiver, nor was cold. Without asking to see if it was okay, Ember started to walk into the trees.
Ace just sighed loudly. He watched Ember escape into the trees, and decided against his better judgement not to follow. Instead he remained on the outskirts of the island, where the water lapped at the shore. It was there he found a coconut tree. With great strength, he managed to shake a few to the ground. He put them in his burlap sack and left it by the ladder of the ship. It was now that he ventured into the woods, wondering if he could spy on Ember.
Ember was careful, she knew no one was following her, if she could keep it that way for just a little while. She walked far into the trees, and it grew darker and darker. Once it was pitch black, she stopped and pulled out the necklace. It wasn't really her necklace, it'll be taken back as soon as she gets back to the palce. The smooth blue gray stone started to vibrrabe, then it started to glow, and it cast a watery image on the floor. It showed the torse of a man who looked to be underwater, he was large and decorated with seashells and strands of seaweed, casting a rather pleasent effect. However, his face was contorted with rage. "WHERE ARE YOU?!" Ember flinched and looked around, then her face hardened and she stood up straight. "I was taken by a bunch of pirates. But it's okay, if this works out right, then the prime minister should fall more in love with me, and we'll be able to get more out of him. Your attack is secure."
Ace wandered deeper into the woods, but he could not find any trace of Ember. As he walked farther, it grew darker and darker, and he was struggling to see more than a few feet ahead of him. At one point, he accidentally ran into a tree, and cursed quietly under his breath. Moving onwards, he thought he heard someone speaking. It was definitely a man's voice, but unlike any of those of the crew men. He pushed through the foliage. Ember was not too far ahead, but he hadn't seen her or heard her yet. "Ember, are you there? We'll be heading back soon!" he called out, continuing to move forward.
Ember gasped, she hadn't heard him approaching, hopefuly he hadn't heard anything. Quickly she whispered to the angry man in the image, "Crew member approaching, I must go." she closed her fist around at the pebble shutting out the light. Quickly she turned and walked towards his voice. "Sir?" Her talk with the man had shaken her a little bit, and put her "back in her place". She would not call this piarate by his name.
Ace came to a stop when he heard Ember walk towards him. "Oh there you are. It's about time to get going again. Can't stay in one place for too long now. Say, you know you can call me Ace? Though I love the title, you don't have to call me Sir." he joked, taking her wrist and dragging her forward back to the ship. He didn't do it to mean, he did it purely to assert his power. Lately he had been too much of a softie with her. He needed to be mean, evil, cruel.....
Ember gasped softly when he jerked her foward. She didn't protest, she didn't say anything. The darkness lifted a little bit and they could see the moon through the leaves now. She glanced up at Ace's looming shaddow. Then she looked down and kept her head down. When she was sure he wasn't looking though, she slipped her necklace back under the neck of her dress.
As they neared the ship, Ace released his grasp. He pointed to the ladder and ordered, "Climb aboard. We're leaving." He made her go first in case she fell again, that way he'd be able to catch her. Though there was no way he would ever admit that to her. The reason they had to go so soon was because they had been alerted of a ship that was following them. At this point, they didn't want to risk attack, but if they had to they would. They'd just have to make sure Ember was out of the way.
((You okay with the ship following them? Just want to make sure!))
Ember climbed the ladder very carefuly, making sure to put each foot in each rung and not to slip. She didn't want to make a fool of herself again. Clambing on board she looked over the rail longingly at the ocean below. Oh, how it would feel to be free, shooting along underwater... No! I mustn't think like that. You wouldn't be free there either! Ember sighed, a little too loudly, then jumped afraid of the pirates hearing her.
Once Ember climbed aboard, Ace clambered up the letter and landed softly on deck. "Of we go boys! Pull up the anchor, quickly now! We're being followed." He pulled out the telescope from the storage closet, and placed it steadily on deck. It was dark, so it was hard to make out the name of the ship. "Featherstorm.... Hmm... Sounds rather familiar actually. You heard of it princess?" he asked curiously.
Ember froze at the sound of the name. Them... ember tore the telescope from his hands and scanned the ship. Yup, she reconized each man on that ship. They were called Searchers among her people, and they were a sorce of fear. If any of them could tell what she was, it would be all over. Who knows why they were following this ship, hopefulythey couldn't tell what she was. "Um, yes, I saw there ship in the... harbor a few times."
