Ace just laughed as the girl beat his chest with her small nimble fists. Eventually, he set her down, the most gentle gesture he had exemplified to her the whole time he had known of her. Sitting down in front of her, he traced her jawline with his index finger ever so gently, a grin spreading on his face all the while. "So tell me princess, what's your name?" he asked smoothly. He stood up now so that he was looking down at her.
Ember jerked backward at his touch, away from his horrible man. Trembling she stood up but he was still looking down on her small figure. She looked at him with wide fearful eyes, "What do you plan on doing with me?" Ember shook where she stood even as she tryed to stop. "Please, just let me go." Her voice was small.
As Ember spoke, Ace's heart softened for a moment. He almost felt... bad? No, he couldn't feel bad and he wouldn't feel bad. "You're going to stay with us until we can get a good amount of money for you. What are you anyway? A princess? A wife?" he asked out of curiousity. The only reason he asked was due to the fact that he wanted to have an idea on how much money they'd be able to get for her. If they were able to get a good amount, he might move up from second in command. It had always been a dream of his to be captain.
((He doesn't know her name yet :) ))
Ember tryed to move away from him, but the ship lurched and she ended up falling back onto the ship's deck. "Please let me go. Please..." Ember's voice faded off, they weren't going to let her go, no matter what. She didn't try to stand again, the ship was in motion. Upon his question she looked up at the man. "I'm just a peshant girl who's father hasn't been able to scrap together a big enough dowery for to maryy me off." Ember knew they would proably see through her lie, after all, all of England knew of her and her skirts showed high rank.
(( Haha I know. Didn't actually call her by name. Just indirectly referred to her instead of calling her maiden. :) ))
"Listen. You're not getting off this boat anytime soon so stop pleading." he declared firmly. Crossing his arms, he looked down upon her and frowned. "Listen. I may not be from your "high class" society. But there's no way in he*l you're just a peasant girl. Not with skirts like that." he scoffed, pointing down towards her skirt which evidenly showed that she was not simply a peasant girl. "Now tell me what you really are. Who you really are I should say, what's your name now?" Ace asked the maiden.
((Oh okay :) ))
Ember didn't look up at him, didn't try to stand. She sat on the ground, although she wasn't shaking anymore. How in the world could she get out of this? Would the prime minister pay for her? Or just discard her to these people? Ember didn't want them to know her name, as names held power amoung her people.
(( I'll try not to do that anymore :) ))
Ace took a daunting step forward when the maiden didn't answer his question. Leaning down next to her so he was her height, he took out his pocket knife. He held it to her neck, not hard enough to even pierce her skin. "I don't think you heard me. What's your name?" he said in a menacing tone, pressing the blade ever so slightly harder against her neck, just enough to frighten her but not wound her.
Ember drew in every breath like it was her last. She looked at the man, terror etched into every line of her beautiful face. "Please don't kill me. My name is Ember, and I'm the prime Minister's mistress." Ember looked into the man's eyes, her beautiful blue eyes wide with fear.
((I have a study hall, so if you see me post during school, I'm in the libary posting. It's after school now. Adding on, don't feel like I empahised her fear enough :) ))
Ember's skin temperture shot high creating the slightest bit of steam between her neck and the cold, so very cold, blade. Quickly she cooled herself down, if anyone had touched her tat that point, they would have gotten burned. Ember looked into the man's face, into his eyes. She didn't see any remorse there which tripled the pure terror in her beautiful baby blue eyes.
(( Oh lucky!! I'll have to look into doing that as well ;) ))
When she spoke, Ace withdrew the blade from her neck and shoved it into his back pocket. "See now, was that so hard? That's all I wanted to know silly girl. I'm Ace. Just Ace." he stated firmly. "And let me add, you don't have to worry about me killing you. We want your ransom money, and as beautiful as you are, I still don't think they'd reward us with a dead body." he said. Ace realized he probably shouldn't have told her his name, or his motive. If she did get away, they'd have no trouble identifying her capturer.
Ember made a mental note of his name, as said before, names are very important among her people. Ember shivered with how easily Ace put off her death, just because he wouldn't kill her didn't mean he couldn't toture her. If he did, Ember doubted she could concel herself, except maybe to take advantage of knowing his name. Ember asked, "What do you plan on doing with me while I'm on bored?" She didn't look in his eyes, and her voice was small.
Ace frowned for a moment and scratched his chin. "Hmm.... Now that I think about it I'm not really sure. You'll be locked up in my cabin most of the time. That's the only place we really have room for you. We can't have other ships seeing you on board with us, they might report us for capturing a young maiden." Bending down, he picked her up and put her over his shoulder. "Let's go check out where you'll be staying." he said with added laughter at the end.
Ember's eyes widened, and she beat on his back as she was drapped so carelessly over his shoulder. "Put me down! I have f-feet!" Mentaly she cursed herself for stumbling over such a simple word, it was the beginings of huma language. "Let me go!" Ember was trembling from the fear she was trying to hide, yet the Ember wasn't in control of the trembling.
Ace just laughed, and set Ember down in front of him. "Fine, fine, fine. You can walk. It's not too much farther anyhow." he muttered as he steered her down a narrow hallway and into the fifth cabin on the right. He jiggled the door knob, and gave the door a nudge so it would open. "Here it is. Cabin 5E. This is where you'll spend most of your days. You can come out when I allow you too." Ace ordered. He closed the door behind them, and leaned up against it in case she decided to try anything sneaky. "So, a pretty girl like you must have had a husband. Tell me, Ember, who was this lucky man?" he sneered.
Ember shook in front of him, he was blocking the door, this room was too small, way too small. Ember pulled her claustripopia down, and looked at the door Ace was leaning on so causualy. In a small voice she said, "I'm not married yet, but it would have been soon... I'm only 16..." Most woman would get married a little older than 16, but it wasn't unheard of to get married at 16 or 15. But among her people, 27 was way too young.
Ace noticed the Ember was shaking, and he frowned slightly. He nodded as he listened to her. "Now tell me, who were you going to be married off to?" he asked casually. He thought it must be someone of importance, perhaps a prince or maybe a prime minister of some sorts. Cautiously, he stepped away from the door, hoping it would relieve her shakiness.
The room was small, too small, not like her lands, open and free to be where ever one wants. Gulping it down she watched him step away from the door and her shaking increased, but now from the pressure. She could bolt out, but would be caught, and where would she go? Back to her people? No way they would hate her if she did. But staying here was so uninviting... Ember tryed to calm herself but it attempt was unsuccessfull. In a small voice she spoke, "A wealthy man in the country. He owns an oil company." Ember didn't meet his eyes.
"Ah ha.... Interesting.... Very interesting...." he muttered in as evil of a tone as he could muster. "An oil company you say? Well that would mean you were the lover of the prime minister now, correct? To your surprise I presume, I have quite the knowledge of the people of your land." When he referred to her 'people', he had no idea that the people he thought of, were far from the real truth. "You don't like tight spaces, eh? I suppose we could head up the the back deck. No one would be back there but us, and it's quite open I might add." Ace declared thoughtfully.
Ember's head shot up as she gaped at him. Scrambling away from him as fast as she could, she pressed herself against the back wall, "Please, please don't hurt me. Please!" Ember trembled and she stared at him wide eyed.
Ace frowned, and sighed heavily in annoyance. "For the last time, I'm not going to hurt you." he muttered, still standinng in the now open doorway. "I thought you might like to get out of here. You coming or not?" he asked gruffly, glaring at her. Slowly he began inching the door closer and closer towards her, until it was almost shut and locked. "You can either stay or come with me." He said this through the small crack of the almost closed door.
