Ember snorted and flipped her hair, "I thought of something last mintue. He doesnt know mermaids very well." she transformed and let it register in Ace brain then switched back. "He didn't know what to make of me.' She smiled and touched his cheek, "I'll be okay for tonight."
Ace was confused by what Ember meant, until she transformed in front of him that is. He smiled, and laughed as he embraced her in a warm, lasting hug. "Ember, you're a genius! That'll keep them away, at least for a little while. I hope no one else comes in for the rest of night..."
Ember shook herself, "I hope not." She leaned into him, glad dispite herself for him being there. For a second she felt safe. That was untill the door slammed open and a man stormed in. everyone froze for a second.
Ace sighed softly, relaxing as Ember leaned against him. When the door slammed and a man appeared, Ace froze. He gently leaned away from Ember, and stepped in front of her, pulling out his sword that he always carried with him. It was dark, so he couldn't recognize the man's face, and for his sake, he hoped the man couldn't recognize his. "Get out, I'm not finished yet." he growled, hoping he would be mistaken for just another crew member.
The man pulled out his sword in kind. "Who are you?" He couldn't reconize the man's face, and he knew everyone on the ship. He certainly didn't reconize the oice. Could they have a stoaway?
Ace paused for a moment before answering the man. "I'm Peter. I think it's about time you get out of here, wait your turn." Ace growled demandingly, praying there was someone on this ship named Peter. If not, he was done for. He kept his sword protectively in front of him.
The man relaxed, "Oh Peter, I didn't reconize you." He turned to the door and Ember relaxed slightly. The man had almost left when he spun and flung a knife at Ace. "Stoaway!!!!" He screamed.
Ace let out a brief sigh of relief, but tensed up when the man turned back. He thrust his sword in the direction of the man. Ace knew he had been caught, there was no way around it now. He ducked when the knife came, pushing Ember out of its path. Taking a few steps forward, he waved the sword threateningly in front of the man.
Ember gasped as Ace pushed her aside, unsure of what to do. Did she help, or would that make it clear that she cared for him. the man drew his sword and Ember could hear footsteps pounding towards them and her skin temperature started to rise, old habits coming back.
The man swung his sword at Ace, and Ace took a step backwards. The sound of pounding feet grew louder, and soon there was a whole crowd of men in the doorway.
Ace gulped, he knew he was outnumbered, He thrust his sword at the man, only grazing his skin.
Ember's skin temp rose to boiling point and the waves outside started to crash against the side of the boat. The night was clear, but the waters started to churn. She watched with horror.
Ace noticed that the sea was getting rocky. After having spent years on a ship, he has inapt to sensing that sort of thing. "Back away!" Ace snarled, taking a step forward with his sword. His heart was pounding, he had never fought solo against this many people.
((Bump :) ))
((wow... I was thinking at the horse sholast week that this thread was really picking up, but we hadn't posted on it in awhile. Haha, I thought it was you, guess it was me Sorry!))
Ember was tense watching it and the the boat was starting to rock, enough for her to feel it now too. the men started to circle Ace, enough so that he couldn't get away. ember's breath hitched and her skin temperture rockied.
Ace knew he was done for when the men circled around him. Even if he could dart between them, they could easily kill him with one of their weapons. It was no use, he would have to fight. "What do you want from me?!" Ace cried out in vain. He almost lost his balance as the ship rocked from side to side.
"What do we want from you?!" One of the men cried out, "You came in here trying to steal our mermaid, stowing away on our ship, what do you want from us?!" The men chorused and Ember still couldn't figure out what to do. The boat rocked again, then hard enough to throw Ember to the floor and the men losing their footing.
Ace bit back several sharp retorts, knowing it would only get him into deeper trouble with the men. The ship rocked harder, and Ace stumbled a few times before shakily regaining a bit of his balance. "Just let me go, okay? I haven't hurt anyone, and I don't plan on it as long as my life isn't threatened." Ace still clutched his sword, his knuckles turning white.
