Aria nodded quietly, pretending as if she had heard everything. She had only caught snatches of what Thomas had said, but she pretended to fully understand as she sorted things out in her head.
Eddie growled and swore under his breath. "I paused cooking for this?"
"Oh goodie, another person to mess things up." Savannah commented rudely,s he looked down at her nails and than around, her eyes fell on Aria. Aria was one of the only people Savannah was civil too, mostly becuase of disability though. Savannah understood disavilities, she hated laziness however and considered a lot of people lazy at the manor.
Aria reached up to nervously tuck away one of her curls, pushing it back into place. She chewed her lip with concentration as she started to head back to her work. Frustrated.
Stella's cab pulled to the manor as Thom's 'meeting' had finished. She got out at the gate and walked up to the door, suitcase in hand. She took a deep breath and knocked. Thom put his index finger to his lips to make everyone hush up, then walked over and opened the door. "Good evening, Miss Poulain." She smiled and tried to curtsy, but stumbled. She cleared her throat and said, "So, shall we begin, Sir?" He nodded and led her to his office, giving the staff warning glances as he walked away.
Savannah sighed, she turned and went back to work, she went back to Leo's wing of the house and satrts cleaning his office area. She started to dust his office funiture off while putting things away neatly in drawers. She grabbed some wood oil for the desk and chairs and shelves.
India heard the door open and heard Thomas head to hsi office. She guess it was the new maid. India satrte dto stitch a skir out of the denim material, fitting it on the sewing model carefully. She sewed everything by hand, the sixe of her dolls made a sewing machine impracticle for her.
Aria went back to the bedroom she had been cleaning, dusting and vacuuming under all the furniture, making the bed, changing the towels in the connecting bathroom...In silence.
Eddie growled as he went back to the kitchen to cook. He started to search for the salt to season his sauce, and swore when he couldn't find it.
"Now, Miss Poulain. I have checked to see if you have a criminal record, which I was quite pleased with to see that it was clean. However, and I must ask, did you assist with your former boss' buisiness of burglary?" said Thomas, as soon as they'd been seated. Stella sighed. "No, I didn't." The thought of him in her apartment urked her, and the thought of getting the maid job seemed so much more appealing. Thom looked at the computer screen at his desk. "And you have no history of mental illness. When would you like to start?" She sat there for a moment, stunned. "Um, that's all?" she asked, confused. He nodded. "Yes, indeed." Stella nodded, blank-faced, then replied, "Right now, if I may." They stood. "Very well, then. I'll show you to your quarters." She looked around the room. "Am I being Punked? Is this gonna be on TV or something?" Thom looked genuinely confused. "No, why?" Stella shook off the thought. "Nothing, nevermind." He sighed and walked out of the office, with Stella following after.
Eddie grumbled and swore louder when he was unable to find the salt. He was left mystified.
Aria was quietly coming down the hall, having finished cleaning the guest room. As she walked along, she saw Thomas...and a stranger. She blinked a little, biting her lip in confusion.
Thomas lead Stella to the servants' quarters, to the last maid's room. "This is where you will be staying." He said, opening the door. It was half the size of her apartment, which meant she had added room for a bedroom. "Your uniform's on the bed. Today you will be in the kitchen, cleaning up after the chef." She nodded. "I will leave you to change, then I will give you the tour and take you to the kitchen." he said, then shut the door. As she was almost done changing, slipping on her shoes, she felt something at the tip. She reached in and came back with a small slip of paper, folded up tight. She read the note and paused. It was only one word, crudely scrawled on, and it said 'RUN'. She sighed. "Well, I hope they aren't serial killers. I hate when that happens." She tossed the not in a little wastebasket, then opened the door and stepped out. Thom nodded. "It looks like we won't have to make any adjustments. Now, time for the tour." He began to walk, with Stella scurrying after.
Eddie swore more and louder with every moment he went unable to find salt.
After a while of pointing out rooms and saying what they were (making Stella's head spin a bit) they found themselves in front of the kitchen. "And this is where you will start work." said Thom, opening the door to reveal Eddie's small fit. He cleared his throat to get his attention.
"What?! Can't you see I'm in the middle-" Eddie looked up, breaking off mid growl and blinking when he saw the new girl beside Thom. "Oh. Um. Hello."
Stella gave a small wave. "Hello." Thom sighed. "This is Stella, the new maid. She'll be your scullery maid today." She stepped inside and looked around. "Wow, high class." Thom shut the door behind him, leaving Stella with the chef.
Eddie stood there in silence for a second. "Help find salt." He finally grunted.
Stella nodded. "Yes sir." She rustled around in the cupboards, looking for a box, a shaker, a cannister, just something.
"I bet Adam took it..." Eddie growled to himself.
"Adam..." mumbled Stella. She remembered a name like that from the tour. "The Master's son?" she asked, "Does he usually do things like that?"
Eddie huffed. "Yes..." He grumbled under his breath about putting more locks on the covers.
Stella nodded. "I see. Well, I'll go and look. Does he have a known hiding spot?"
Edie sighed. "Plenty. I need that salt."
