But there seemed to be no danger. At least...not in the daylight. Andy paused in front of a store that sold weapons. "Hey, do you think we should grab some stuff from there? We might need it." He glanced back at her.
Sam nodded. "It's a good idea. What do you feel lost comfortable with?"
"I'm...not a good shot." He admitted. "I think we both should just stick to one gun each, all the amo we can get, and then knives for extra."
Sam nodded. "Come on then."
He nodded, following her to get weapons.
Sam pulled down a hunting rifle and three boxes of shells, gathering a few knives she stuck in pockets and in her boot. She looked around. "Pick something."
Andy went for a shotgun and grabbed as many boxes as he could for it. He then grabbed a few knives, picking carefully, and packed them away. "Alright."
Sam rubbed the back of her neck and grabbed a few extra things, jamming them into a duffle bag and sighing. "Okay, let's go."
Andy nodded, leading the way once more. The building seemed pretty sturdy. The basement was in tact. If worse came to worst, they could make a temporary fortress of it. "Alright, I think we can stay here. You can set up. I'm going to find some blankets or something."
Sam nodded and cleaned the area up, using a broom from a closet and sweeping the dirt away. She set up two makeshift beds, a place for a fire in the corner and started working on fixing a shelf.
Andy returned a short while later, some blankets and a few other supplies with him. It was all worn and ragged, as if everything had been sitting for a long time.
Sam looked at him, staking food on the shelves. "Was that all there was?"
He nodded weakly. "A lot of it is ruined. I think...we've been out a long time...but that's impossible. We would have died, right?"
Sam sighed. "I don't know Andy..." She looked at him and made a face. "I don't know."
Andy sat down, chewing on his lip and trying to think. "Going a little far in the imagination, what if aliens came and took over our brains? And...and then someone overthrew them and now we can't remember, but we're free? And...um...the aliens took the rest of the humans away from earth before it happened?" He sighed. "Never mind, I sound rediculous."
Sam shook her head and sat by him. "No, it's okay. Anything could've happened really."
Andy sighed deeply. "I just want to know where everyone is..."
Sam nodded, looking away. "So do I..."
Tears sprung into his eyes. "My sister..." He whispered. "God, where would she be...?"
Sam brought her knees to her chest, awkwardly touching his knee. "There there..."
