(We can start now.)
Stella grabbed curtains and flung them open. The bright lights from outside stung her eyes, but they adjusted in a minute. She sat at the desk facing the window and put her notepad out in front of her. For the last few days, she'd been trying to sketch a squirrel that'd come and sit on the last branch. That was about the only excitement at the school, since the new arrivals hadn't actually arrived yet. She caught sight of the squirrel. She continued the sketch in progress, mumbling to herself, "I hope they come soon so I don't have to resort to this for excitement."
Suki quietly walked along, struggling a little with her bags. Besides her small suitcase, with her clothes and personal effects, she had a backpack full of sheet music and a few instrument cases. Guitar, cello, violin and flute. She struggled to carry them all carefully. She would stop to set them all down, walk forward a little, then go back to get them one at a time. Progress was slow for her, and she was early.
Just as she got done with her sketch, she saw a girl starting up towards tthe school. "Finally!" she exclaimed, "A newbie!" She leapt from her desk chair and ran outside, the staff telling her to slow herself down. She waved at the new girl as she slowed down and walked over.
Suki shyly lowered her head as a girl approached her. She hugged her violin case close to her chest. "Um...Hello..." She had a British accent as she spoke. She reached to push her glasses higher on her nose, shuffling nervously. It was only one person, and she already felt shy.
"Hey, you need some help there?" asked Stella, "You look like you're having a bit of trouble."
"I-I'm okay..." She whispered. Even though help would be greatly appreciated. She hugged her case tighter to her chest.
Stella sighed. "You want me to at least get on of those luggage carriers they keep at the front desk?"
"Um...Alright..." Suki whispered. She wanted to kick herself for being so shy. She had wanted to try to be more outgoing at this school, but even now she was cowering.
(Weaponry being rifle and saber. The two other things we toss in Color Guard. they aren't harful, but they can be dangerous to toss if you arent careful. I ended up in the ER with a bruised wrist bone during band camp this season.)
Stella nodded. "Okay, just a sec!" She turned on her heels and hurried to the front desk. "Where are the luggage carriers, Miss?" she asked the lady at the front desk. She pointed to the corner of the room, where they were gathered together. "Thanks!" she said, striding over and grabbing one. Stella rushed back and stopped in front of the girl. "Here you go! I guess I'll be going then." she said. Stella turned and was about to walk away, but stopped. She swivled her head around and asked, "Hey, what's your name?"
"Suki. Suki Winters." Suki replied with a polite little bow as she carefully started to load her instrument cases onto the luggage carrier. "Thank you very much." She managed to whisper.
(Yikes, that sounds bad. I hate getting bruised on a body part I use a lot, because it hurts to move and all. And with my 'beautiful' genetics, I keep making it worse... And that's why I'm homeschooled.)
Stella smiled. "No prob! Nice to meet you Suki. I'm Stella Poulain." she replied. She began the walk back to the school.
Suki nodded with a timid smile as she started to walk to the school with the luggage carrier.
Stella walked back to her room and flopped on the lower bunk of the bed. "You'd think a school that could afford that fancy new auditorium could at least get two beds for a room." she muttered to herself, "I wonder who my roomie will be."
Suki quietly checked in at the front desk, then moved to find her room, chewing lightly on her lip.
Stella sat up in bed, hitting her head hard on the boards at the top. She clutched it and moaned, "Owww!" When the stars in her eyes went away, she slowly rose out of bed and reached fer her notepad and began to sketch.
Suki ended up getting lost. She bit her lip, looking around at the halls, then at the paper in her hand with the room number.
Stella sighed. "I can't do this today. I can't think!" she moaned. She put her pad away and grabbed a book and headed out. She walked down the hall and turned the corned to find Suki. "Hey again!" she greeted.
"Oh, um...hi." Suki whispered. "I....I'm lost..."
