"No, I guess I'm not..." Aiko mumbled.
Jack smiled again. 'That's okay. You just have to get used to them. Or do what I do. I ignore the cruddy ones.' He crumpled up the brown paper sack his lunch had come in and shot it into a nearby trashcan.
Aiko blinked. She moved to quietly pack up her food. The salad was only half eaten, but she silently put it away.
'So what class do you have next?' Jack pulle dout his schedule and scanned. Co-Ed Gym. 'Great.'
Aiko bit her lip and reached for her schedule.
((sorry, school's been occupying me more than usual))
Jack scanned the rest of his schedule. He grinned widely as he saw only two more classes left in the seven period day. His Graphic Design class took up three periods. 'Well, I've gpt it easy this year.'
Aiko smiled very faintly at him then looked at the rest of her own schedule. She sighed quietly. Biology. Calculus.
'So. Are you in any after-school clubs?'
Aiko blinked a little, looking up from her schedule. She thought for a second and then sighed. "Chess." She said quietly.
'Are you good?' Jack was intrigued. He loved playing Chess in his spare time.
"I've played since I was young." Aiko mumbled.
((Sorry, I've been busy))
Jack smiled. 'I've been at it for three years now.'
((Oh it's totally okay. :) ))
Aiko blinked quietly at him. "And how well do you play?"
He blushed. 'I-I'm no pro, btu I do play a hard game,' Jack spoke self-consiously.
"I....play competitively, but..." Aiko sighed sadly. She looked away, fidgeting slightly. "I don't like it." She mumbled the last sentence so quietly it almost faded away.
'Then why do you play?' Jack pondered this.
"I like chess. I don't like competing." Aiko corrected quietly. "I..." She trailed off. "It's expected of me. So I do it."
'Oh?' Jack was suprized by this. His parents had never expexted anything of him. Not even good grades. Just go to school and try to stay out of trouble. 'Sounds terrible.'
"I do as I am expected." Aiko said, hugging herself. "And a lot is expected of me."
'But you don't like it?' Jack studdied her slight face, trying to search it , but failing.
