Kace stared at this female with wide eyes. He wasn't the best in situations that called for comfort. "Um... It's okay. We made it." he told her in the softest voice that he could after almost falling. The near death experience didn't phase him much because he'd been through lots of painful and scariness in his life already. "Don't cry. Um... You're okay." he said a little awkward when he spoke though he didn't actually feel that way. The marks that the stranger was leaving on Kace's wrists didn't alter him one bit. He easily got on of his wrists free and stroked her copper hair to see if that would be any more comforting. The tall male took a deep breath, knowing they both needed one after that incident.
When the voice stopped, Matt zoned out for a moment. He heard comotion outside the room, and many inside his room started to panic. One man lost it, running to another and beating him against the wall. Matt didn't want any part of this. He busted the door open and was about to run when he realized the floor was gone. Before he could react, he fell forward and twisted around to hang on for his life. He tried to hoist himself up, but the floor beneath his hands was crumbling and if he didn't get up soon, he'd be falling into an endless pit.
Anna released the man's wrists and apologized. "I'm sorry," she whimpered. His gentle hand that stroked her hair was actually soothing, despite the fact that he was a complete stranger. She stood and wiped her eyes with the backs of her hands. Her mascara smudged and she suddenly appeared to have a lot more makeup on her eyes. The makeup around her eyes was dark, making her bright teary eyes very pronounced. She wiped her nose and looked up into the man's eyes. "I'm Anna," she sniffled. They were too close for comfort so Anna took a step back. "I'm sorry for... that," she shrugged shyly about her sudden burst of panic.
"Kace." he told him in a clipped way. If he hadn't been trying to comfort her a moment ago she may have thought he was rude. Maybe she did. Most people did because Kace came across that way from so much trauma in his past. When he looked at Anna's eyes he decided not to say anything about her eyes. He figured she couldn't do much here anyway and didn't want to come off as a total jerk from point one. "You're fine." he assured her, not even worried about the evident markings from her nails. "Makes sense that you were scared." Kace looked around the room in the same confusion as before. "I don't understand who did this... Or why. But we need to find the way out as quickly as possible." he told Anna, turning back to look at her. Kace didn't do well with other people but he didn't want to do this alone. Plus he found Anna attractive which was totally off the wall considering the sitiation they were in but that was Kace for you.
Anna smiled and nodded. She liked Kace and was happy to have a companion. "What are we going to do? We can try to jump this gap and travel room by room until we get to the hallway leading off there," she leaned out the doorway, holding the siding for support and pointed to the hallway all the way at the end. She paused inher sentence and squinted. She could see the silhouette of a person hanging in a doorway. "Oh my g.od," she whispered. "Kace! There is a person hanging off the edge over there!" She looked at the gap in the floor to the doorway diagonally across. It was closer to the person, but though Anna was athletic, she wasn't sure if she'd be able to make that jump. And what about Kace for that matter? She just didn't know.
Scarlett noticed the young girl was having trouble keeping up. Once they were a few strides ahead of the crumbling floor, Scarlett scooped up the girl and put her on her back piggy back style. "Hang on!" Scarlett screeched. The floor continued to crumble. Once she got the chance, she hung a sharp right. The floor continued to crumble in the direction they had previously been running in. In the midst of her panting, Scarlett set Zoya down.
Zoya sat on the ground and stared at the the floor, wondering if it too would crumble, she looked up at the panting Scarlett,
"Zoya." she said pointing to herself, Zoya's english wasn't great so she used hadn gestures and simple words mostly for communication. SHe was fluent in Russian though.
Scarlett sat down next to Zoya and smiled. "Scarlett." she managed to breathe out. A little ways down the hall was another doorway. Diagonally across from the door way was another hallway. Scarlett noticed two people trying to jump across the crumbled floor, most likely going for the doorway. Motioning to Zoya, Scarlett walked over, now standing across from a girl and boy. The jump looked like it would be challenging, even for an experienced athlete. Scarlett held out her hand as far as she could reach across the opening. "I won't let you fall!" Scarlett shouted across. "Zoya, hold my ankles down so I don't fall." Scarlett ordered quietly.
Zoya lay down on her stomach and grabbed Scarlett's ankles, holding them down to the best of her ability. She was a small girl so he wasn't helping too much except providing a little stability.
"Jumping isn't my style." Kace admitted. "I don't really see a choice though." he stood behind her when she went out, frowning at her observation. "Dam.n it." he mumbled. "Hold on there!" Kace yelled towards the male that was struggling. The tall male then walked pass Anna and hurried to the end where the gap was. He should have been cautious in case the hallway they were were on caved as well. He saw that the male was a door down the hall with no floor and groaned. He would have to make sure to keep the right footing and hope he had enough strength. "Just hang on!" his voice sounded gruff as he eased himself along the very small edge of the hallway just a few feet in. He leaned down when he knew he could reach the stranger. "Grab my hand and I'll pull you up." he said, flipping some hair out of his eyes. It was a very good thing Kace was so tall so he didn't have to go too far down the tiny edge.
Scarlett watched as the man turned down another hallway. He was saying something to another person, but Scarlett couldn't quite make out what it was that he was saying. Now there was only a girl standing across the open gap. "Jump!!" she shouted. "I won't let you fall! You can grab on to my hand!" Scarlett called out.
Anna looked across the floorless hall to a girl she hadn't noticed before. "Are you crazy?" she gasped at the girl. "Pull yourself back up. I think I might be able to make the jump just barely. This man over here needs help and once he is safe we will try to cross." Anna walked to the edge ready to catch Kace or the man if they stumbled.
Matt looked up, then down. There was a man, holding out his hand. Matt took a deep breath, grabbed the man's hand, and reached the floor. He started breathing heavily, putting his hands on his knees as he patted the man on the back.
"Thanks," he said, still out of breath, his face red as an apple.
Scarlett rolled her eyes. "No of course I'm not crazy you idiot!" Scarlett grumbled. She pulled herself back up and crossed her arms. "Well whenever you guys are ready, Zoya and I will be here. Maybe when we're all together we cann figure a way out of this place." Scarlett called out across the gap. She stepped a few steps away from the ledge, giving the three people room to jump across.
Anna shrugged off the girl's comment and sighed when the man and Kace were safe. She backed up slightly giving them room to get back on solid ground. "The girl is right," Anna said to Kace and the man. "If we make a group maybe we can figure this place out and maybe make it out alive."
"Let's just hope the floor isn't hollow the whole way," Matt muttered to Kace, looking around. He looked at Anna. "What about all the other people, though?"
Scarlett watched as each of them jumped and arrived safely on the other side. "Well there's stength in numbers. I guess we could see if there are others..." Scarlett murmured as her voice trailed off. "I'm sure there will be other challenges along the way, whoever did this isn't going to make it easy for us to make it out alive." Scarlett remarked thoughtfully.
"Man, when I find this guy..." Matt said with gritted teeth, his voice trailing off as he looked down a corner.
((Hey Shooting.Star, I'm not trying to be mean, but do you know what Power Playing is? It's when another inkie makes other inkie's characters do things that the owner f that character has not permitted or said was done, like jumping over the chasm. We can play through it this one time but please try not to do it again.)) "Don't you remember what the voice said?" Anna asked. "Only three people are going to get out of here alive. There are five of us here. I don't think it's the best idea to go looking for others." Anna felt bad about saying that bit it was true.
"So they're all going to die..." Matt said quietly. That was terrible. They all had families. People that were missing them. Matt didn't feel right leaving them to be killed by their capturer while he managed to escape. He wanted to find a way around it.
