As Percy forced Oasis to swallow, her breathing quickened, then suddenly it slowed, almost to a stop. She remained unconscious for a few more moments, then her berathing became normal. Her eyelids fluttered, and she awoke to see Percy's face. "T-thank you Percy." she murmured. Her skin softened and returned to normal. "If it wasn't for you... I'd be a dragon right now." she whispered gazing into his eyes. Leaning up, she kissed him softly on the lips, in thanks. "Thank you, Percy." she breathed.
Percy's eyes went wide at the kiss. He blinked a few times and it took him a moment to process what she just said. "Um, Your welcome." Percy sat up glad she was okay. "What was that for?" He asked thinking of the kiss. Thinking back he relised, he had kissed her back.
Oasis blushed at the question. "It was just uh.. a thank you!" she quickly finished. She didn't want to admit her sudden feelings for Percy, for she had only just met him. Her cheeks were a rosy red, making even more embarrassed. She turned away, hiding her flushed cheeks. "T-thanks for saving my life. How could I ever repay you?" she murmured.
Percy was still flustered and even though he didn't want to admit it, her kiss had felt good. He glanced at back, why was she so enthralling? Percy metaly shook himself and stood up. "Welll..." Percy teased. "You wouldn't have died... I think you would make a very cute dragon." Percy grined at her.
Oasis grinned. "Is that so?" she replied playfully. "I'd prefer to be a banshee thank you very much. I'm not about the dragon life." she joked. "Imagine having scales..." she pondered for a moment. "It's like your own personal shield!" she chirped. "Maybe you should have let me transform into a dragon after all!" she joked gazing into his eyes, her own possessing a glimmer of humor, and joy.
Percy pretended to ponder it. "Hm, a good sheild, a cute dragon, yes I should have let you turn into a dragon." Percy grined at her but it slowly faded off his face. "You looked so scared." He rubbed the back of his neck and sundenly looked up right into her eyes, his own serious. "I would never let you turn into a dragon, you know that right?"
Oasis' gaze softened. "Of course not!" she exclaimed. "You're not the type who would sit by and watch someone suffer. You're far too kind to do something like that." she whispered, standing up and walking over to him. She took his hand lightly and squeezed. "Listen I know we've just me, but you have treated me better than any of my own kind. I could never repay you." she murmured.
Percy looked up, he hadn't missed any of her words, an some popped out. "Better than your own kind...?" He echoed looking into her eyes concerned. "How do they treat you?"
Oasis let out a small sigh. "I'm treated like an outcast by my own kind. For what reason, I'm not entirely sure. They have been trying to banish me from the group for years, but to no avail. My father is the leader, which is probably the only reason why I'm still allowed in." she said. "I've been trying to figure out why I'm an outcast, I'd like to some day find a creature who knows why. Once I spoke to an Oracle, but she just presented me with a strange riddle..." Oasis murmured, with a hint of frustration in her tone.
"What's the riddle?" Percy asked softly.
((sorry for the shortness, plus if you can't come up with a riddle its okay))
Oasis lowered her eyes toward the ground, and became to softly speak the riddle she had memorized.
((Alright, I'm going to try.... here goes nothing! ))
"Alone in a group of many
No reason surfaces
Powers beyond control
Two worlds cross
Forbidden hearts rise together."
(( Sorry that may not make a whole lot of sense, I was just making it up as I went along! :-) ))
Percy rubbed the back of his head. "what could that even mean?" Percy sat down comfortably and continued. "Powers, do you have any? If not then you'll get them or someone around you. Two worlds cross... mabey two seprate creatures, and you fall in love with them which explains the last line." Percy didn't relise that the last thing he said could very well apliy to him.
"I don't think I have any powers, at least not that I know of.. Banshees commonly just cause he.ll in humans' lives, I wouldn't exactly call that a power." she offered. "My father is making me marry in a month, but then why would that be forbidden?" she questioned. "Maybe I'm just not supposed to find out.." Oasis whispered softly, letting out a deep sigh. Above her, the previously rainy sky began to let up, not realizing her father's powers would now be enhanced and his vision would increase.
Percy sighed as the sky let up, it was a great sky. Percy stood up and walked around a bit to strech his legs, not saying anything. "It's wrong that he is forcing you to marry." He said. Ironicly, that was what stuck out to him the most. Percy went over to her, just meaning to look into her eyes, but he tripped over a stick... ontop of her. Percy looked down at her, suporting his weight on his hands. About to get off of Oasis he said, "I'm sor-" he was cut off by someone burst out of the trees.
Oasis' eyes were filled with humor and warmth. It felt so right to be with Percy. As she began to tell him it was perfectly alright, a large figure appeared above them with a thundering voice. "OASIS! What exactly are you doing here with.... this?" her father bellowed staring at Percy with disgust.
"Dad... don't worry he was only helping me!" she shrieked, standing up, realizing what her dad might be thinking.
"As your father, it is only right that I take this mongrel as hostage in our camp." her father ordered.
Percy jumped up, red as a beat. "I, um, sorry, I just, sorry, I only tripped over a stick, sorry. I didn't do anything." Percy looked down then away. He honestly didn't do anything, how could he convince her dad of that?
Oasis' previously joy filled her eyes wer now burning with a sudden hatred for her father. "Dad, Percy didn't do anything wrong okay? He was just saving me after I had eaten a dragon fruit. Really, we don't need to take him hostage, he's innocent!" Oasis shouted, her voice growing louder.
Oasis' father just rollled his eyes. "I was watching the pair of you the whole time, I saw what you were doing." he lied. The storm had weakened his powers, there was no way he could've have seen the kiss. "Oasis, stop being so insubordinate, we are taking this boy here prisoner in our camp and that is final!" he bellowed, grabbing Percy roughly by the arm.
Percy quickly twisted his arm, forcing her father to let go, then paused, what was he soposed to do? He very well couldn't just go, he had avoided that his whole life, at least from the cages of the government. Yet he couldn't leave Oasis, they may have just met, but... there was just something about her. Mabey it was her troubles, mabey it was her. Turns out he didn't have time to decide, Oasis's father tackled him. They scrambled on the ground for a second, but Oasis's father was definatly a better hand fighter. He jerked Percy up by the arms and said roughly as Percy fought, "Lets go you." Percy squirmed, but to no avail.
Oasis was beyond furious by this point. She was sick and tired of her father ruining her life. She begrudgingly followed behind her father, who had Percy. Every now and then she would cast sad glances at Percy. After all, this was her fault, it was her father. Once they arrived back in their camp, her father dropped Percy on the ground for the rest of the camp to see. Oasis' father cleared his throat and announced, "While taking a stroll through the forest, I discovered this... slug of a boy on top of my despicable daughter in a clearing. They were up to no good, and being romantic. Hence, I have brought him into our camp as prisoner. As for my daughter, she will be receiving a serious punishment as well. Instead of being married in a month, the wedding will now be in two days. Tomorrow morning, this boy will be executed." he stated. Then, pointing to his strongest banshee he ordered, "Take this boy into our underground cellar. Keep guard, and lock him in chains. He is not allowed out until his execution."
The banshee grabbed Percy's arm, and pulled him up. Percy glared at him, but, obiviously, it didn't do much. "Let. Me. GO!" Percy snarled at him, but he just dragged Percy along like a dog. Percy glanced over his shoulder at Oasis, but his veiw was blocked. He gave up then and just stumbled after the gaurd. I've surrived. I've surrived through everything everyone else died in. I've haven't givin in to the desise. I've gotton away from the government. I've always been able to... Percy's head hung and he was tugged down the stairs into the celler. Bitting his lip he just watched as the banshee clamped chains on each wrist and ankle.
