Kids Who Become Heroes (KWBH)

Jul. 15, 2013 at 1:02 pm

Daunte

Daunte shrugged. "An unlimited supply, technically. A certain friend of mine can provide as many as I need, and the bright side is that you really don't have to pay a pet store or lab or dead rats." He pulled out another rat, stroking it. "You see, these guys aren't getting anything taken from them. They were dead when they got here. I just have a friend who can reverse death. But don't get any ideas, she can't handle any bigger than these rats. Anything above that could kill her."

He put the rats away and turned to Ryker. "I think we're done here.  I do want to see if it's possible for her to reverse the petrification. It may mean she could reverse it on humans, just bit by bit."

Reve

Needless to say, Reve was astounded by Ryker's ability. Watching the rat turn into stone so quickly was like watching a live action movie. Stone sprouted from the rat, a wave of limestone engulfing the whole animal until it looked like a rather odd stone statue. His green eyes widened in awe, and his smile curve into utter amazement. Reve even clasped his hands excitably, as if he were some student who just watched his science project succeed.

"That was remarkable, Ryker!" Reve exclaimed, honestly blown away by the whole thing."And to think all I can do is make people go to sleep." Reve mused, snorting at the comparrasion."Oh, Sam, you have got to come and see--"He broke off abruptly as Keisha began to speak, along with Duante. Reve didn't care if Juliet butted heads with the man; he seemed nice enough to Reve. But then again, everyone seemed nice to Reve.

"That would be interesting, if you could do that, Keisha. Reverse Ryker's powers." He commented, nodding earnestly."How exciting this all is!" He couldn't help but to grin widely.

((I'm sorry guys, I was traveling the past few days. I'm in Belgium, now, and the wifi is only available in the lobbey, so it's going to be even more difficult. If I disappear again like that, I'm pretty sure Nacho said she was okay with power playing Sam.))

Sam

Despite wanting to remain cautious, Sam couldn't resist following Reve's suggestion and peering into the room as Ryker demonstrated his ability again. It was fascinating, but terrifying at the same time. He couldn't help but wonder if he could somehow make himself lucky enough to avoid such a fate as the lab rat- but probably not. Sam didn't have a lot of faith in anything he could do.

The now stone rat in the cage made him think about what it would be like to turn to stone. The realist part of him knew that it was probably just like being snuffed out- a stone brain couldn't exactly function. But the dreamer in him imagined that the rat's little consciousness was still trapped in its stone body.

Only half in the doorway, Sam decided to drive his mind out of those kinds of thoughts and focus on something a little more relevant to the moment. "Do we have a a schedule for everyone's training? And then what do the rest of us do while someone's doing something with you?" Sam waved a hand in an absent gesture.

"I apologize if you have reiterate something that was said before concerning it, but I don't really remember," he said apologetically to Daunte.

Ryker

"Well." Ryker tilted his head, shrugging at the praise floating around him. "At least the little guy might stand a fighting chance. Do tell me if this chick's power works with mine...then I won't be so jumpy if the sunglasses come off."

Ryker gave an easy-going grin, gazing around at the others. "So. Who's next?" He rubbed his hands together. "Stone-smone, I wanna see Reve put someone to sleep."

He gave the boy a finger-gun point, grinning as he did so. "If he needs a victim, I volunteer."

Daunte chuckled. "Oh Ryker, i was actually about to suggest you. Considering you're already done today, and miss Wonder seems all business and no guinee pig." He shrugged. "Hey, if you both are okay with it, and there's no real harm, go for it." He turned to Keisha. "I've seen a demonstration of your power, miss Wonder. I should like a bit more extensive tests later on, but for today, you are dismissed."

He looked to Sam. "The scheduling is pretty vague right now. Just how much you need to train each day and whether it's group or solo, etcetera. Anyway, I might hand out new schedules once I get things figured out with you guys, but for now you'll just have to deal with the vague."

Keisha

She raised an eyebrow at Daunte. “Dismissed as in: 'Get out', or dismissed as in: 'You don't have to stick around but if you want to, go ahead'?” Keisha didn't wait for an answer. “Just giving you a hard time,” she added and then left the training room. Passing Sam on the way out, she clapped him on the shoulder. “I think these people need a mood boost, why don't you give 'em one?”

Now she was going to find Juliet and see what she was up to, hoping that Rachel's cat wouldn't make an appearance. Or that she would get lost—the hallways were so devoid of anything even in the slightest that would be useful for orienting herself or notifying her that she was going in a circle...aside from the occasional arrows and signs. Heading back to her room, Keisha thought that she might find Juliet there, but she wasn't counting on it. That was before she sent the elevator to the first floor by hitting the wrong button and as she'd never hit 'stop' on an elevator before, she wasn't about to find out what trouble pressing that would bring her so she just let the thing run three floors down. “Great,” she muttered. "Just great."

The receptionist at the front desk—if there was one, she couldn't really tell as it went out of her vision—was probably looking at her cross eyed. Keisha made sure to hit the top floor button this time and the elevator doors closed again.

Reve

It was amazing how Ryker viewed his power, compared to Reve's. He thought his own power was quite simple compared to Ryker's, and at the request of his, Reve smiled brightly.

"Well, if it's alright with the both of you,"His green eyes flickered to Daunte and Ryker,"Then okay, Ryker. Would you pefer a long deep sleep, or a short nap?" Reve inquired, since it was the polite thing to ask. Taking notice of Sam, his smile lengthened."Care to watch, Sam? You have my word that I won't do this to you unless desired."

Juliet

Juliet was in her dorm room, unpacking everything with a certain undertone of frustration. She already did not like this place, Ryker only being one of the few reasons among many. By the time she cooled off, she was lounging on the couch, trying to find sleep.

Where was Reve when you needed him? She wondered irritably to herself, her eyes determinedly shut.

(Lighted sign with hallow letters? Um....why? In an office building? And they would have taken into account she'd need something different, so they would have something with readable elements to her, like something with the letters engraved, or with the letters glued on, etc.)

Sam

Sam nodded his understanding to Daunte. He was usually okay with vagueness concerning schedules, as he didn't like to be restricted in anything he did, but he wasn't really sure what to do with himself in the meantime. He supposed he would stay in the training room, along with Reve, even though some people had already left for there rooms. There was nothing there for him, not yet, at least.

Sam was wary of the idea of practicing using his abilities, so he slid further into the room, and leaned against the wall. "Sure. I'm curious, anyways. Can you wake people up at all after putting them to sleep?" His last comment brought to mind an amusing image of Reve waving his hands over a sleeping Ryker saying 'sleep no more!'

(I'm so sorry. I wasn't aware I'd forgotten to inform you guys that I would be on vacation from Wednesday to Sunday - I could have sworn I did, but I see now I must have forgotten. Again, my apologies.)

Ryker

Ryker pondered Reve's words with an almost comic seriousness. "A light nap, good sir, will suffice for now." He dropped the old-school act with a grin. "But I could use that long, deep sleep later, man. My dreams have been messed up. I'm sure you'll find out soon enough. I apologize in advance for any nightmares you may or may not have."

Ryker strode over to Reve, clapped his hands together, and wiggled his eyebrows. "So. Do I just stand here, or what? How does this work? Will I collapse dramatically?" He put a hand to his forehead, mimicking a faint. "It better be manly."

Reve

Reve couldn't but to be amused by Ryker's attitude about the whole thing. The boy really was entertaining, and reminded him of someone...Bu, that someone that nibbled on the edges of his memory hardly mattered now.

"I have tried waking people up."Reve admited, glancing over at Sam who had asked is question. "But, all I can seem to do was lessen my influence--that it, my influence of making them sleep--and see if they decide to wake up. Some do, some don't." Reve shrugged, smirking slightly."One time Juliet woke up and was furious at me for 'making her do so', but I really didn't. I just took my influence off of her." He chuckled tohimself, before he cleared his throat.

"It is best to lay down." Reve instructed, his nerves like pop rockets under his skin. He couldn't believe that they were letting him do this!"And, there is no need to apologize. I have seen plenty of nightmares." He reassured, thining of a child that was sleeping on the subway that was fussing over a scary dream about teddy bears. Of coarse, it didn't help that the mother used one to comfort him.
