Jess smiled and gently ruffled Eris' hair. "Yes, of course sweetie. James is going to wake us up early so we can get a head start." She looked at the clock; it was already 10 o' clock. "We should probably head off to bed. Don't forget your elephant!" she reminded her sweetly, pointing at the stuffed animal. She gazed down at Eris' scars with saddened eyes.
Eris grabbed her elephant and held it tightly as she padded down the hall too James bedroom. She crawled onto the side of the bed pressed against the wall. Kneeling she lowered the blinds and turned the lamp on before crawling under the covers for bed.
Jess smiled as she watched Eris climb into bed. She turned on the other lamp on her side of the bed, remembering how Eris didn't like to sleep in the dark. "Goodnight Eris, sweet dreams." she murmured, crawling under the covers beside Eris.
James sat on the couch, wide awake. He knew he'd have trouble falling asleep knowing the cult had been in their house a short time ago.
Eris curled up next to MJ. She didn't feel scared that much. James just down stairs, he'd keep them safe. She was also really tired. Closing her eyes she starte dto rock, a habit she hand't gotten out of and suck her thumb while hugging her stuffed elephant.
Jess pulled the blankets up over them and placed her hand gently on Eris' shoulder. She watched as Eris rocked and smiled. "Sweet dreams." she whispered as she closed her eyes. She knew she wouldn't be able to fall asleep until Eris did.
As James watched the clock strike 3:30, he walked into the room where Jess and Eris were sleeping. He knocked softly on the door frame. "Time to head out." he called out quietly into the darkness.
Jess woke up almost immediately, she hadn't slept very well. She gently tapped Eris' shoulder. "Time to get ready to go sweetie." she whispered quietly.
Eris woke up slowly. Her eye lids were still very heavy. She sat up and looked at James and MJ. Eris rubbed her eyes. She ws still tired.
Eris crawled out of bed. She had set put an outfit last night so she went to her room to get it,
James smiled and grabbed their bags from the hallway. He went outside and loaded up the car, fitting all their bags and a couple of small pieces of furniture. When he came back in, he smiled, though the dark circles under his eyes showed differently. "Ready to go?" he asked meekly.
Jess looked around the room one last time to make sure she'd grabbed everything she would need within the next week. James could always come back for something if she needed him to. On her way to the living room, she peeked into Eris' room. "Ready to go?" she murmured sleepily.
Eris nodded as she came out still holding her elephant. She was in a set of overall, a white polo with a pink stripe on the collar and around the sleeves. She had on her boots and a large monster hoodie that had eyes on and spikes on the back. It was black with rainbow sleeves. She was holding a brush, her hair was messy and tangled.
Jess chuckled and gently took the brush from her hand. She went behind Eris and gently began to brush the tangles out of her hair.
James peered into the hallway to see what was holding up Jess and Eris. When he saw Jess brushing Eris' hair, he smiled and went back into the living room to wait for them.
Eris handed MJ some colorful ponytails. She liked when MJ put her hair in braids. The ponytails were all different colors. One was pink, one was blue, one was purple, and one was green. She had some others on her wrist. She still looked very sleepy.
Jess smiled and took the ponytail holders from Eris. She placed them on her wrist while she divided Eris' hair into two parts. Her fingers twirled through Eris' soft hair as she braided her hair into two braids. She put a pink hair tye on one, and a purple one on the other. "How do you like it?" Jess murmured sleepily, putting a small mirror in front of Eris' face.
Eris put the extra ponytails on her wrist. She smiled at her reflection,
"It's pretty.' she said. She yawned sleepily and waited for MJ to take her too the car.
Eris still had to use a carseat due to her small size, she was hoping to grow out of it soon though.
Jess smiled and took Eris' hand in hers. "Let's go meet James out at the car." As they went to leave, Jess checked the house one more time to make sure they hadn't missed anything. "If you've forgotten anything, James can get it for you on his second trip." Jess explained reassuringly.
James had started the car to warm it up. It idled in the driveway as he waited for Jess and Eris to join him.
Eris walked out with MJ. She climbed into her carseat and allowed herself to be buckled in. She looked around for her bag, she had a baby/travel blanket in there and wanted to get it so she could sleep. She'd gone to bed late last night and was really tired.
Jess buckled Eris into her carseat and pulled her small travel blanket out of her bag. She draped it over her gently and smiled. "Try and get some rest, we'll be on the road for quite a few hours." Jess murmured. She got into the passenger seat beside James, and put her travel pillow around her neck.
James began to drive away, his eyes feeling heavy. He hadn't slept all night because he was worried about the cult.
Eris fell asleep in the back pretty quickly. Her tiny hands clutched at her stuffy. She tucked her legs up and pulled her blanket tight around her for warmth and comfort. She had one thumb in her mouth
Jess had tried to stay awake for the ride to keep James company, but she ended up falling asleep. In a few hours, they pulled into a parking lot. Jess blinked her eyes open sleepily and looked at the building. It was decent sized, nothing too fancy. "Is this it?" she asked, anxiousness filling her voice.
James smiled and nodded wearily. "Home sweet home, at least for a little while." he murmured, referring to the apartment complex before them.
Eris was already awake. She swung her legs and looked around. Her stomach growled because she was hungry.
"Is there food?" she asked. She hadn't had any food today. She stared out at the apartment building. It looked nice. They were in a low/middleclass neighborhood, not super nice but not really bad either.
