Janie looked up quicky, she'd been playing in the bubble when MJ came in. She saw MJ starring at her brand and quickly curled up, pulling her knees to her chest and using one hand to cover her brand,
"Go, you can shower in minute." she said using her free hand to point to the door. She didn't like that MJ had seen her bathing, her cheeks were turning pink, she was also scared that MJ would ask about her scars, specificly her brand.
Janie stared up at MJ, waiting for her to leave so she could get out of the tub, dry off and get dressed.
Jess backed out of the room slowly. "So sorry Janie I'll uh.. be back in a little bit to take my own shower. You uh.. just take your time." she murmured and slammed the door shut. Her breathing became rapid and short. What had she just seen? She swore the brand had matched the ones they had seen at the arson cases. No it can't be.... How was that possible. Perhaps she could talk to Janie later. Her heart was racing as she stumbled back into her room. She was terrified, what did this mean for her future? Should she report it?
As soon as the door shut Jane jumped out of the bath and satrted draining it. She dried off quickly and pulled on her PJs, which were pants that were light green with darker green stripes and a dark green t-shirt. She hung the towel up and left the bathroom, quickly heading to her room, it'd been a long day driving form crime scene to crime scene. She crawled onto her bed after shutting the door and closing the blind she stared into the darkness of her room, bretahing slowly, trying to figure out how tor eact to what MJ had done...what she'd seen.
Janie went over to the dresser and pulled a matchbook out, she'd stolen it from the kitchen and hidden it in her wardrobe she lit a match and squatted in a corner, starng at the flame as it licked the thin match stick up.
Jess went to go shower, in attempt to clear her thoughts of what she had just seen. Janie's scar appeared to be an exact match to the symbol they had seen at each of the arson crime scenes. Deciding she would question the girl in the morning, Jess went about the rest of her shower. When she finished, she dried herself off and put on her favorite pair of PJ's. She towel dried her hair, and curled up into her bed. She turned on the TV, and began to fall asleep. Just as she was about to fall into a deep slumber, she was jolted awake by a loud noise outside her bedroom window. Turning on a lamp, she shouted shakily, "W-who's there?"
Janie had been laying in bed for a while, she'd used up the matches and hidden the burned stubs of wood in the garbage, she heard a banging outside the winodw. Janie shrank deeper into ehr bed, they'd come for her now, she was going to go back, she dug her nails in her palm, cutting the skin slightly, she was scared. Janie pulled teh covers over her head, she wished she was somewhere else adn not here, she didn't like those people, one hand slid to ehr brand and covered it, even though it was already uner the covers and her clothes she put her hand over it as if to hide it form whoever or whatever was outside the house.
Jess put on her road, and tiptoed out of bed. She pulled back her curtain and looked out the window into the darkness. All she could see was a flickering street lamp, and a few scattered leaves on the sidewalk. As she was about to close the curtain, she noticed a movement at the base of the tree. Startled, she pulled the curtain close. Again, another BANG resounded on her window. Her breathing grew quicker, and her heart rate faster. She peered out of a crack in the curtain and noticed a masked face staring back at her. "AHHH!" she screamed and ran to pull the gun out of her uniform holster. She ran back to the window, flung open the curtain, and the masked face was gone. Her heart still fluttering, she turned off the lights and went back to bed. It's all just a dream. she tried to convince herself. She knew the masked figure was as real as herself.
Jane heard MJ scream, she squeezed her eyes shut waiting for the sound of a scuffle, or voices, or a gunshot. There was no noise, she stayed under the covers, afraid of what would come next. her hand grasped at the fabric on her hip, still covering her brand.
Janie rolled over hearing a soft nois eoutside her window, it sounded like someone brushing against the plants outside her window. She trembled and sank deeper into the soft matress, trying to completely hide and yet still see what was going on. there was another louder noise of someone shaking her window, she had teh sahdes down though and culdn't see out. Than everything went quiet.
Jess was trembling, and was unable to fall asleep. She decided to go check on Janie and make sure she was okay. Tip toeing out of bed and down the hall, she creaked open the door to Janie's room. "You alright little girl?" she whispered softly in case the girl had fallen asleep. She took a few steps into the room. All she could see was the outline of the small girl all bundled up in the covers.
The noises were completely gone now, Janie heard MJ say something, she rolled over and pulled the covers down so she could see MJ standing in the doorway of he rbedroom.
Janie didn't know what to say, she'd been scared, but admitting to fear had never ended well for her, she'd always otten hurt. Janie didn't really enoy pain, she just did her best to ignore when she hurt herself accidently and when she did it on purpose it was more of a uilt in insticnt, liek she'd been traine dto hurt herself and not show when she was hurt.
Janie bit her lip and looked over at the window, she sat upa nd turned the bedside light on,
"Don't sleep." she said simply, trying to say she didn't want to sleep, she brought her knees to her chest and wrapped her arms around them, her burnt hand hurt when it was rubbed but she ignore dit, she stared at MJ, waiting to see what she would do.
Jess listened to the girl's words. Somehow, she understood what Janie meant. She knew Janie didn't want to sleep. The girl seemed somewhat nervous, despite the fact that she wasn't showing her fear. She found an old sleeping bag in the back of the closet. Rolling it out, she spread it across the floor. "How about I sleep in here tonight? I'll be here with you." she suggested, somewhat for Janie's sake, but also for her own. She still felt nervous about what had just happened. She was desperately afraid, especially after what she had seen at the crime scenes earlier today. Though what scared her the most, was the fact that Janie's brand matched up with the symbol seen at each of the arson scenes.
Janie moved over and patted the bed next to her. She wouldn't admit it, but it'd make her feel safer to have MJ closer. She stared at MJ with bright eyes, waiting for her to come up and climb in next to her. She hugged her knees tightly, resting her chin on them.
Jess relaxed as Janie offered her to sleep with her. Smiling at the girl, she tossed the sleeping bag in the corner and climbed in to bed with Janie. Pulling the covers snug around them, she snuggled her head into the pillow. Feeling warm and secure, she whispered into the darkness. "Good night Janie, sweet dreams little girl."
Janie lay down next to MJ and curled up, ready to sleep,
"Good night, Janie, sweet dreams little girl" Mj said, Janie nodded,
Sweet dreams little girl...sweet dreams little girl....the voice in her head repated it but it changed, it was no longer MJ speaking but a man, she trembled at hearing his voice, it was only a dream, but she coudldn't shake.
She was in a room only lit by a fire place and was pressed against the ground, someone was lying on top of her, she was in pain, whoever was on top of her as hurting her in a horrible way and pressing lit ciagrettes on her arms and thighs. This went on for what felt like hours, Janie twitched and whimpered in her sleep
"Sweet dreams little girl." the voice in her dream sneered as the person got off her.
Janie opened her eyes and rolled over, looking at the clock, it was 4:30 in the morning, she felt sweaty adn sick. She closed her eyes again, not wanting to wake MJ though, they would get up in 30 minutes anyway right? Janie lay still, not wanting it known that she was awake, she carefully moved her hands to her face and wiped her eyes, forcing her face back to it's placid oddly emotionless look.
Jess fell asleep, and fell deep into her darkest nightmare yet.
Bang! Bang bang! The pounding on her door grew louder and louder. "Let me in young lady!" She immediately knew it was her father. Her mother was out of town for a business conference, and she was left home alone with her father. Jumping out of bed, she unlocked her door and ran back to her bed, throwing the covers over her body, as if to protect herself. Her dad came over to her, and threw his beer bottle down on the floor. It smashed, glass pieces were scattered everywhere. He lifted up her covers and smiled his toothy evil smile. Before she knew it, he was on top of her taking off her clothes. She was ra.ped.
Jess jolted awake, cold sweats covering her neck and back. She had never told anyone about this, in fear that they would send her dad to jail. She was only 11 at the time. If her dad went to jail, she knew he would come and track her down. Glancing over at the clock, she saw it was 4:30. Only half an hour more, and then she would have to get up.
((Just an idea, but what is Jess' dad was also the one burning and doing stuff to Janie? Not sure if you already had a plan for her, but I just wanted to run it by ya! :-D ))
((Oooh, what about Jess is father is like the top dog...leader of the cult that Janie had been part of...how's that sound? And yes it'd be Jess's father who hurt Janie.))
Janie rolled over, tossing and closing her eyes, trying to sleep, but she couldn't, she hated her dreams. She was shaking, but her face was calm, or at least the fake placid stare she got when she hurting adn didn't want to show it.
MJ seeemed to be awake, Janie kept her eyes open and looked at MJ, MJ was shivering slightly it seemed. Janie wondered why.
(( Sounds awesome to me!! :-) ))
Jess turned over in bed and noticed that Janie appeared to be awake as well. She nudged Janie gently on the should. "Can't sleep either?" she murmured softly in case the girl was still asleep. She wondered if Janie had had a nightmare as well. She was still debating whether or not she would bring up Janie's matching brand, maybe it was just a coincidence. It couldn't be anything that serious, right?
"Dream." she explained, she looked at MJ,
"You dreamed bad?" she asked, wondering f that's why MJ was awake this early and trying t keep teh attention focused away form her. If attention was focused on her it was bound to turn to her brand, she didn't want to talk about that. Especially not lying in the dark after the scare she'd had tonight from the mysterious visitor and her dream.
((ShootingStar, in Jess's bio you said her mother disppeared when she was 5 and her father died.
I mean if you want to change her bio, that's cool with me, I don't mind.
I was just makin' sure you knew that your post about her dream kinda contradicted that..))
(( Oh thanks for noticing that! I'll switch the mom and dad around, so her mom passed away and her dad's an alcholic, and after he raped her he left her alone without a trace! Thank you! :) ))
Jess nodded in response to Janie's question. "Yeah I had a nightmare, it kinda freaked me out a little.. Reminded me of my past." she murmured quietly. Not wanting to explain, Jess hopped out of bed. "Well, I better start getting ready. It'll be a long day at the station today. Want anything in paticular for breakfast? I went grocery shopping a few days ago!" she exclaimed proudly. She never really went grocery shopping. Typically she lived off Ramen noodles and toast, but that was no longer a sufficient lifestyle now that she had Janie.
(( Oh thank you for noticing that! I'll switch the mom and the dad, so her mom passed away and her dad was an alcholic. After he ra.ped her, he left her alone without a trace of where he had gone off to! Thanks again for letting me change the bio! :) ))
Jess nodded in response to Janie's question. "Yeah I had a nightmare... It kinda freaked me out, especially after hearing the banging noise on my window last night. It just reminded me of my past.." she murmured softly. Wanting to get off the subject Jess jumped out of bed. "Well, we better start getting ready. It's gonna be a long day at the station today! Want anything special for breakfast? I went grocery shopping recently!" she exclaimed. She hardly ever went grocery shopping. Typically she just lived off of Ramen noodles and canned soup. Now that she had Janie, that diet was no longer sufficient.
