Charolette thought she heard someone walking nearby. Wasn't strange, it was beautiful out. Probably some old man reminiscing about World War 1 or something. Might as well check it out, she thought as she headed to where she thought she heard another person.
Tom stopped suddenly when he heard somebody walking nearby. "Who...Whos there?" He mumbles barely audably. His imagination went into over drive as he thought or several different possabitilites of who could be nearby, some of them were much more likely than others.
"Hey? Is that....Thomas?" Charolette stepped onto the path, seeing the kid from her class. It WAS him! Weird, she'd never seen kids her age walking around, especially on this old, forgotten trail. "What are you doing here?"
"Oh it's you Charlotte. I was just taking a walk and kinda fell asleep." Tom managed a small smile. Charlotte wasn't nearly as bad as the possiable creatures that tom had in mind. "And now I am late so I'm sorry and I don't mean to be rude but I really must hurry along." Tom looked around nervously. His father would skin him alive for sure.
((if you want to create the disturbance in the woods the characters follow now, I'm ok with it, but they can just keep talking too. lol.....I don't know....))
"Aw, you can't stay? But it's soooo nice out!" She spread her arms like she was a salesperson showing off her merchandise. But Tom looked as ready to leave as ever. 'Where do you have to be, anyhow? Not like we have one of those monster English projects now or anything." Sarcastically, with her hands on her hips, she teased, "You got a girlfriend waitin' or something?"
Tom shook his head. 'Maybe I do have a girlfriend whats it to ya?" Tom sighed and decided to stay for a little while. He was already in trouble what difference could 10 minutes possiably make. Suddenly a little bit in the distance a loud scream that was very much so not human pierced the air and Tom frose.
Charlotte laughed, but froze as Tom did when she heard the inhuman scream. Well, it could be a human, but it could just as well be some monsterous animal. immediately, she headed to the source of the sound, looking back at Tom. "Are you coming? Or do you need to go home that badly?"
Tom remained frozen for a second just looking at Charlotte. "I guess I can't let you just go off on your own. after all injured creatures are the most dangerous kind." He fallowed along behind Charlotte mumbling about girls and their inability to leave anything alone.
Charolette smiled, then ran as fast as she could through the woods as the sound grew louder and louder. Turning to Tom, she asked, "I don't have my cell phone with me. Do you have yours? We might need to call an ambulance or something!"
Tom felt in his pocket to double check. "Yea I have mine. What do you think is making that terriable ruccus?" Tom had his eyes peeled searching for any possiable cause.
"Judging by the sound, it's probably not human, but...what else could it be? It doesn't sound like any animals I know about...."
Charolette suddenly stopped, staring at the ground. "What...what if it is something dangerous? A wild animal or something? Do you really think we should go to it?"
((do you want them to find the creature now or keep talking?)
Tom looked down at the ground searching for something. finaly he picked up a large branch like stick. "If you are scared then we don't have to but you don't have to worry I won't let it hurt you i promise." He smiled and left the decision up to her.
((um either one is fine with me so maybe they can talk while the ook for the dragon or whatever.))
Charolette felt herself blush a little. There she went again, imagining her very own fairy tale. "Ok, then. Let's go, definintely!" She started running to the sound again, but stopped at a fork in the path. "Which way do you think we should go?"
((Im sorry im not ignoring you in chat my laptop hates me stoped letting me chat))
Tom stopped a leaned against his stick listening very carefully trying to distinguish which way the sound could be coming from. finally he heard it a squeal coming from the right. Silently he pointed down one of the paths and started wallking down it. Not running this time but istead walking and listening very carefully for the creature.
((s;okay, that kind of thing happens to me all the time))
Charolette took Tom's lead, triying to carefully traverse the ground littered with potentially noise-making twigs and leaves. As they grew closer, she began to hear not screams like before, but heavy, labored breathing. "I think we're close to it..." she whispered.
Tom motioned for her to stop talking. After looking around in the brush he saw a creature unlike anything he had ever witnessed before. It was small about the size of your average bunny rabbit. however in no way shape or form did it resemble one. it was coveredin scales like a fish or lizard. it had claws that looked razor sharp and teeth that Tom did not want to chance biting him. The most pecular part about it were the wings on it back one was neatly folded againsts its back and the other jutted out at an awkward angle. "What do you think it is?" Tom mutteded when he was finally able to speak.
"You don't think...." All of Charolette's nerdiness, the fantasy novels and Harry Potter movies, came rushing back. "Its...a dragon? How is that possible?!?"
The dragon seemed to be in pain, and as it was so small, it had to be just a baby. Was its mother around?...Perhaps due to her maternal instincts or just out of fascination, she suddenly announced, "We have to help it."
Tom looked at her. "Duh." was his only reply. Creaping down slowly so as not to scare it anymore than it was already. "Hey, hey its ok little fella I'm not gunna hurt you." taking care not to move to fast he stretched his fingers torwards the dragon so that it could smell him if it wished.
"I can't believe this is really happening...." Charolette offered the dragon her hand as well, hoping dragons would be like a dog and simply sniff her, and that it wasn't too hungry right now.
Tom yelped when the dragon snapped at him. jumping to his feet he didn't quite avoid the sharp teeth and a small amount of blood started to fall from his hand. Thankfuly the dragon did not attack Charlotte instead he nussled into her hand. "Okay really? Do I smell bad or something?"
