"Hey, cool down. Atta boy." Pierce cooed softly, patting Ole Jake on the head. Jake panted quietly, looking up at Pierce. He sat down obediently and Pierce smiled at him.
"Good boy." He crooned, scratching the old dog behind the ears.
He glanced over towards Shannon, and his smile faded a little. He kept petting Jake as he watched her, though he shifted uncomfortably. He should've gone over to talk to her, to say something. But....She was a stranger to him now. He wouldn't have known what to say to her if he did. So he stayed quiet and petted Jake.

Shannon glanced at Jake, she then looked away and shoved her hands in he rpockets, watching the lady in the car, teh car was spluttering and sounded like it was about to die.  Shannon then looked up at Imogen, trying to think of how to answer her question.
"I-I gue-guess tha-at..." she paused and shrugged nots ure what to say,
"I do-don'' kn-now," she stuttered.

Izzy looked up to see a muscular blonde talking to her and realized that a group of at least three others was gathering around her.
"Yeah, I guess I should have checked it before I left. Just my luck that a couple hours in it would break down and strand me in some little town called," she picked up her phone for the GPS, but found it dead. She snatched up a map and ran her eyes up and down, trying to decipher her location. "Well, some little town I've never heard of," she finished.

Pierce kept thoughtfully petting Jake, just watching and listening silently with his usual smile. He reached up to tighten the blue bandanna tied around his head.
Jake sat patiently, waiting for them to start moving again, to go back, something, anything. He wasn't picky.
He sat calmly at Pierce's feet, panting quietly.

Robin had ended up a little way behind the rest of the group after finding an odd-looking tree stump to poke around in. When it turned out not to have anything hidden in it, he hurried to catch up with his friends, spotting them standing around a broken down car. "Hey, what's happening?" he asked as he drew near. He noticed the girl in the driver's seat and sent her a warm smile.

"Hmm." Bee said, peering under the hood of the car. "Your crankshaft is completely busted." He observed, reaching across the engine. "You're gonna need to get a new one." Which was very inconvenient, because the closest garage was a few miles away, and it would probably take a few weeks to order one if they didn't have any on hand. "How long were you driving for?" He asked the girl. She had to have been driving at an intense pace for the flywheel and crankshaft to wear down.
"Engine trouble." Imogen told Robin with a shrug. "Bee can probably fix it. He has a creepy obsession with machinery." She looked back to Shannon and smiled at her brightly. "Wull what do ya say we go down to the lake?"

Shannon looked at Imogen and then at lake, the day was rather hot, she tugged at her vestm which was unbuttoned as usual.  Shannon frowned, and nodded after a ittle bit of thinking, she turned adn walk down towards the lake.  The water looked cold and refreshing.

"Sounds like a good idea. Jake could use a cool down. Isn't that right, boy?" Pierce patted the top of Jake's head. His hand hadn't seemed to have left the German Shepard's head.
Jake's tail wagged, and he looked up at Pierce with his big brown eyes. Pierce smiled wider at his dog, his best friend.
"Good boy." He laughed, starting to walk towards the lake.

Izzy got out of the car and peered over the guy's shoulder as he examined the engine of her car. She didn't really know too much about that sort of thing, so the word "crankshaft" meant next to nothing to her. "Um, about three, maybe three and a half hours," she responded, mentally noting that the rest of the group seemed to be leaving.
"You wouldn't happen to know where I can get a new one? Or better yet, have a tow truck number handy?" she laughed, despite her circumstances.

As Shannon walked ahead to the lake, Imogen glanced at Pierce and his German Shepherd. "She wishes you loved her that much." Imogen observed, giving a Jake a scratch behind the ears. "She's not askin for much, she never has, all she wants is her brother." Imogen smiled at Pierce and then waved at Bee to let him know they were going to the lake before loping ahead after Shannon.
"Wull..." Bee said, leaning against the car. "Hate to break it to you, but we're about five miles away from the nearest gas station, and I don't think there's a garage in this county." Bee shrugged. "I guess Beau over at the gas station could put in an order for you, but that could take weeks. Your best bet is scrappin this piece of crap and buyin a bus ticket." Bee said with a grin. "Where ya headed anyways?"

"Don't say that," she begged. "I didn't come prepared to buy much of anything, let alone bus tickets. This was kind of an impromptu trip. I'm heading to the Big Apple." A wide grin reappeared on her face.

Shannon untied her boots and took them and her socks off, then she sat by the lake and hung her feet in the water.  She swung her feet for a bit watching the water rippled around her ankles.
Shannon glanced up Imogen was comng so was Peirce and Jake.  Shannon went back to watching the water, it'd be so nice to just jump in, but these were her only clothes and she wasn't sure she wanted them all wet, it would feel really nice though.

Pierce's smile shank at Imogen's words. He stood still for a moment, and Jake stood still with him. Though he whined a little bit and nudged at Pierce's leg.
Pierce just looked over at Shannon, watching the girl. His sister.
He swallowed hard, shifting uneasily.

Bee grinned. He had been looking for an excuse to start heading east for a long time, and it looks like he found it. "Me and my cousin were planning on heading that way. You could ride with us." He offers. "She's a little weird, but good fun." He added with a smile. "We don't have much money either, but it's fairly easy to come by if you know where to look."
Imogen slipped off her boots and her socks and pulled her dress over her head shamelessly, plunging into the cool water. Her pale hair flowed along the surface of the lake eerily. She took a breath and dived below, feet kicking up water. When she resurfaced, she had a fat bull frog in her hands. "You're one ugly broad." She commented, staring at the amphibian.

Shannon was a bit startled when Imogen took her dress off.  She guessed she shouldn't be though she'd been traveling iwth them for not that much time, but Imogen was an odd duck and Shannon should've guessed that's exactly what she would do. Shannon would do that though, she didn't like taking any of her clothes off in front of anyone, she just hung her feet in the cold water and watched Imogen swim around.

"Well, travelling with a bunch of strangers doesn't sound like the smartest decision in the world, but considering some of the decisions I've made recently, I'd say this qualifies as fairly sane."
She grinned as she climbed out of her car. "I'm Izzy, by the way," she told the man. "In case I didn't say that yet. Anyway, if we're going to be travelling buddies we'd best get ourselves introduced."
Glancing around, she noticed that the two of them were alone again. "Are you with all those other people who were just here?"

"Go on, jump in." Pierce cooed softly to Jake, starting to lead him to the water's edge.
He looked up just in time to see Imogen pulling off her dress. He flushed and instantly looked away, though he kept moving towards the water's edge, leading Jake.
Jake saw the water and let out a happy bark, tail wagging. He started to run into the water, splashing through it carelessly towards Imogen.

Shannon shied away when Jake splashed passed her, getting her wet.  She watched the dog and play  in the water and swim around.  That was another problem, Shannon ralized, the water was too deep, she couldn't swim, she didn't even think she could doggy paddle, though it looked pretty simple, she'd never gone to lessons for swimming becuase she'd never seen the need too.

"My name is Bee." He said. "And her name is Shannon, that's Pierce, that's Robin, and the one in the water is my cousin Imogen. Come on, I'll introduce you to them."
Imogen let the bull frog hop away and ducked under again. When she resurfaced, Jake was nearly on top of her. Imogen laughed and teased him by tugging on his ears and poking his muzzle as he lazily nipped at her. She rolled around in the water with the german shepherd energetically.
