Vincent heard the random flyer he didn't know make the comment and frowned. "Yeah I'm not even from around here." he mumbled. Vincent was still upset about Toro but he figured he couldn't go back to the other people since Toro's dad had wanted to kill him.
They landed on the edge of a cliff. A few other flyers joined her but were occupied with looking after two wounded. Serah let Vincent on his own feet and folded her wings tightly to her back. "So what are you, precisely? Where are you from?"
Once they were on the cliff Vincent turned to the girl. "I am Vincent and I am human. I am from a place called earth." he told her hoping that she wouldn't change her mind and want to kill him like the last people.
Serah nodded slowly. "I'm Serah, an Angelus, or flyer, as some prefer. Obviously I'm from here." She walked around him a few times, looking him up and down. "Human must be another name for what the Architects are." She mumbled. "They come from the stars, so maybe they come from earth too? But...they forgot how to go back into the stars..."
"Yeah I've heard similar things. I have no idea how to back home." Vincent sighed and really looked at Serah for the first time. She was... Beautiful. Vincent mentally shook his head and chastised himself. "Nice to meet you.. Your leader isn't going to want to kill me too is he?"
Serah rolled her eyes. "My brother won't mess in my business." She told him. She sighed. "You're kind of heavy, I don't think I can carry you down without us crashing, and unless you're extremely tough like us, you're not likely to survive a crash."
It took a second for what Serah was saying to register. "So... How am I supposed to... Get down?" he asked all of the worry of more hatred from others gone.
"Well it might be hard, but you may have to climb down." Serah informed him. "The village is at the bottom of this cliff."
Vincent contemplated crashing and not dying. Serah had said he probably would die. But would that be such a bad thing is what was going through his mind. "Just carry me. If I die then I die." he said in an oddly casual tone.
Serah chewed her lip, thinking. "Even taking into account you could get me hurt too?" She asked.
Vincent paused for a second to think it through. "Fine. But this means you're going to have to lead me down." he said deciding he'd walk down.
Serah shook her head. "No, no, I suppose if you're willing I could take you down. But if I have to drop you to save myself I'm dropping you." She made it hard to tell if she was serious about that.
"And I'm okay with that." Vincent said looking at Serah, expression and voice just as serious as hers had been. He didn't have a death wish exactly but he wasn't going to mind if he died.
Serah nodded and put her arms around him like before. "I'll need another jump in a minute."
"Just tell me when." Vincent replied. He tried to seem brave but inside he was feeling a little afraid.
Serah nodded, starting the same process as in the village, but aiming to go off the cliff. "Now."
Vincent jumped as soon as he heard her. Just like the time before he had a little too much power than any human should have. This time he realized it though and blinked rapidly in confusion.
It was just the launch Serah needed to clear the cliff, and she went into a dive, hanging on to him tightly.
Vincent knew he was too heavy for Serah by the last time she'd carried him. He was mostly anticipating a fall that would kill him and part of him was very apathetic about it. "Just get me as close to the ground as you can and let go." Vincent called to her.
"Are you sure?" Serah asked, spreading her wings suddenly to act like a parachute, but he was still heavy, making them plumet dangerously fast.
