Endless and Guardian !!! 1x1x1 PRETTY PLEASE? IN DESPERATE NEED OF NEW RP
Adeline put up every block she'd ever practiced and shifted into her reflective shield. She caught sight of Abby and, without thinking it entirely through, she reached her shield out to cover the girl. You don't see anything. They've gotten away, have'nt they? You'll get in trouble for losing them.. They couldn't have gotten far though. They probably ran back to the fair grounds. You should go and check. Addie scooted back trying to get Nathan to do the same. She nodded at his sister and motioned for her to scoot back quitly. The other girl who'd just shown up seemed to understand to get moving.
Cinder stood hastily and began to run for it. She hoped to either lead the men away or for the others to follow her. Either way they all needed to get out of there.
"Our powers don't work on them as strong." Nathan said to Adeline, grabbing Abby's hand and tugging her with him as he took Adeline's hand and did the same, leading them both after Cinder. He tried placing the thoughts in their heads, the same as Adeline had thought.
Adeline ran with them, still aiming shielding thoughts at the suited men. Where could they run? They hadn't yet found her home, but if they were following.. she'd end up leading them right to it. She quickly dashed that idea. We shouldn't go to one of our houses, Nathan. That's not safe. Addie pushed her legs faster, worried that her control was slipping.
They already know where I live, and my neighbors will be home. It'll at least delay them enough to allow us to make a plan. Nathan told Adeline, although he added Cinder into the conversation by touching her. She heard the last thought.
Cinder nearly tripped as the boy's thoughts entered her mind. She only knew it was him because it sounded like his real voice. She glanced over her shoulder at him.
She had knew he was special! He smelled it.
These guys are dangerous, she thought back at him, They've been after me a long time. It might not be enough to just hide here. We need to escape as soon as possible.
She began to slacken her pace so the others could catch up, she didn't know where to boy lived after all.
Nathan shook his head, picking up Abby and taking the lead. All I'm looking for at home is to get Abby there and get at least a little delay before they strike. I imagine whoever they're working for, they need clearance before they can act in situations that would expose them. They've been watching me for some time and Ive been watching them too. I've had brief glimpses into their minds and thoughts to know enough that this should work. Get home, get a plan, get moving.
A sharp pain made Adeline's step falter. She didn't look down to where she was sure she'd twisted her ankle. The slight limp didn't slow her down too much and after awhile she couldn't feel it anymore. Nathan, we can go to where I live. After we take your sister to your house, I mean. They haven't found it yet and neither has anyone else, really. It's pretty low-key.
Adeline tried to focus on making her form waver. I can distract them. She flickered out of sight and ran several yards away towards where the woods started. Her form wavered again before she blinked out of sight again. Follow her, she thinks you can't see her. She'd be the easiest target. No one will remember her. She doesn't have a family to worry about her. At least bring one home.
Nathan grit his teeth, wishing she wasn't taking such a risk, but then he didn't fully understand her ability, and so kept running, hoping to reach home soon and get Abby safe. He wanted her out of this, completely. He didn't want them to have any reason to hurt her.
Cinder watched as the girl ran away. She briefly thought about if she should go after her, but she decided against it. The boy needed her abilities more than the girl. Cinder would stay with him to help him get the child home.
His muscles were screaming by the time they got there, but Nathan finally got Abby home and safe, "Stay put." He ordered to crying little girl. "Just stay put, don't tell mom and dad. Just say I had to go help a friend with an emergency, okay? Stay. Don't let anyone in." He kissed her forehead and grabbed some keys. "I don't know about you, but I can't handle any more running. We're taking my car." He told Cinder.
Adeline flickered out of sight and lightened her step until even the dead and dry undergrowth didn't crunch beneath her feet. She kept it up until she reached a low branch. She swung up onto it and began climbing as quickly and silently as she could. No matter if they could see her or not, if they heard her- she was done.
Addie reached a break in the tree where another tree's branch had grown well into this one. She inched her way across to the other tree and hid in the thicker foliage. The suited men were still several yards from the base of the tree next to her. She could hear the talking.
"Do you see her?" The first one asked his shorter partner. "She was right here."
"I don't even hear her." The man replied. He cupped his hand around his ear and neither of them even breathed. Addie held her breath too.
"The other two are long gone as well. Should we go back to base or sit here and wait them out?" The first man asked.
"Like they'd retrace their steps right back to us? Stupid." There was a loud smack and then a quiet ow! and they were gone.
Adeline watched the men jog back towards the fair grounds. She tried something she'd only ever done a couple times; she howled. The cry exploded from her throat and ripped across the sky. It vibrated in the trees and the suited men froze for an instant before dropping into a dead sprint out of the woods. Addie grinned and slowly made her way down from her spot.
Nathan? Nathan if you can hear me... they're gone.
Nathan stopped dead in his tracks. "Woah, that's weird." He blinked a few times adn rubbed his temples. "Never had distant contact..." He mumbled, before reaching out for the source of the thought directed at him and finding Adeline's mind rather easily, to his surprise. I can hear you, shockingly. We can take my car to get some distance between us and them, and then if we need to ditch it, it's a piece of junk I don't want anyway. I can sense where you are, do you want me to come get you or meet us somewhere? All the while, he led Cinder to his car and opened the passenger door for her.
Now that the adrenaline had left her body, her ankle was screaming with pain. Adeline wobbled her way towards the road. If you could meet me? We need to run by my house first so I can grab some things. Slowly, she made her way over another thorn bush. Why were there so many? She sat down on the side of the road, effortlessly blending with the tree she leaned against.
((Sorry guys :P)))
Cinder nodded. "Whatever. We just need to get moving." she sniffed at the air. Their scent was on the air. "I think more are coming."
She ran to the car and jumped in the passenger seat and waited for the boy.
"We're gonna go get Adeline. She says she needs to stop by her place real quick and grab some stuff." Nathan cranked up the car and pulled out, heading to where he sensed Adeline. "Your name is Cinder, right? I'm Nathan. The other girl is Adeline."
Cinder nodded. "I wish I could say it was nice to meet you, but I'd rather had not. Not that I don't like you or anything, but it just means that we're both in big trouble."
She looked out of the window at the houses that were flying by. She kept a sharp eye out for the men. "So...you can comunicate through people's minds then? And read them too?"
"I can hear immediate and mostly stray thoughts within a certain range. Thoughts directed at me are usually louder and generally more noticeable to me." Nathan explained. "I can place thoughts in your mind. I've experimented a little and I can mimick most voices I hear with a little practice."
She nodded. "I can see why they want you."
She glanced behind them. SHe didn't see anyon following them. "So does that mean that you can hear them too? You can tell what they're planning to do?"
"They have some sort of block. Only occasionally can I get anything off of them. It tends to take focus, and cause a lot of headache later. That's another thing. Crowds give me headaches." Nathan shook his head as they pulled up next to Adeline.
