Endless, would you like to do a 1X1 with me?

Apr. 9, 2013 at 11:21 am

Raven

Shrugging, Raven walked past him and started pulling books from shelves. She took them all to an old desk and opened them up, glancing over the pages. "Look for anything that gives instruction on magic, don't bother with any history. And if you find any journals, try those too."

((Sorry, Endless!))

Henrie

Henrie looked at her. This girl was bossing him like she was the royal one. He decided to ignore it though.
He grabbed the first few books his hands found and yanked them down. He was drenched in a shower of dust. He sneezed loudly and blinked as a small folded letter drifted to the ground.
He bent down and picked it up. It was sealed shut with some old wax. He tore it open and began to read.

Raven

Raven glanced over and frowned, walking to him. "What did you find?" She asked softly, recognizing the seal, but unable to place it. The letter was definitely what they were looking for if they wanted proof that it was a witch doing this. The letter itself had been left specifically for Raven, and the moment her eyes set on a specific line, her heart dropped. She snatched the letter away, wanting to keep him from reading it. "Good sir, don't you know better than to read mail adressed to someone else?"

Henrie

He had already read part of the letter when Raven snatched it away. He looked at her in a bit of mild anger.
"I was reading that! Give it back."
He was starting to get irritated by her brash behavior.

Raven

"It's addressed to me, and it's a private matter!" Raven snapped. "This letter contains information that might help you, but along with it, it contains something very personal. You will respect my privacy, if you expect me to respect your royalty. I will tell you what you need to know, and that is all."

Henrie

Henrie looked at her in surprise. "I could have you arrested on the spot!  It is enough for me to burn you at the stake for being related to a witch with this monster is on the loose!  There are lives on the line here and if I don't take care of this problem you can rest assured the king will send someone a lot more aggressive than me to solve this problem, someone who will not hesitate to hang you."

Raven

Raven winced, looking down and clutching the letter close. "Please...please just let me tell you what it says that you need to know..." She said weakly, her voice tiny and trembling like a leaf. If he read the letter all the way through, he'd likely kill her. She couldn't let that happen. She wasn't evil She didn't deserve to be killed.

Henrie

Henrie instantly felt horrible for making her sad.  He let out a loud sigh.  He was glad the king wasnt here to see him.
"Fine.  Tell me what it says." Henrie agreed and crossed his arms and waited for her.

Raven

Raven nodded and opened the letter, reading it through. Her hands were trembling, and she tried to read quickly. "Okay...so...a witch has definitely survived, a few even. And the letter specifies where to look for anything that a survivor might use to retalliate." She looked at Henrie. "There's another secret compartment, in one of the book cases, behind the books."

Henrie

Henrie looked around the giant library. "Please tell me they told you the exact one."
He ran a hand through his hair, if they had to search every single bookshelf they'd be here until next year.

Raven

Raven sighed, shaking her head and looking around. "No. Not even one of his usual little riddles. It appears to me, he was writing this on quite short notice. I suspect it was written on the day he died..." She looked back at Henrie. "My uncle..."

Henrie

"Your uncle? What happened to him?" Henrie glanced back to the room they'd exited where they'd found that woman.
He turned his gaze back to the bookshelfs and began to shuffled through the books to see if any of them activated a switch of some sort.  His own castle had a secret entrance in the library. It was to be used if someone every over ran the castle and the royals needed an escape.  The way they activated theirs was by a small statue hidden amongst the books.

"I told you, he carried me off the night of the attack and was killed for being a witch." Raven mumbled, looking at the letter again. "He said there's a secret compartment behind the books. Maybe all we need to do is take all the books out of the shelves, and if there's a switch of any sore, we'll likely find it anyway."

Henrie

Henrie nodded. "Then let's get started. I'll take the ones on the left."
He moved over to the left side of the room and began to remove the old bookshelves.  He didn't really pause to see what they were about he just looked for the switch to open the door.

Raven

Raven nodded and started searching, simply knocking the books from the shelves to find a switch or compartment. It was quite a whilte of tiring work, before finally, as she removed a book, having lost the energy to push them all off at once, she saw a little keyhole. "Henrie, I found something!"

Henrie ran over to Raven and peered over her shoulder. "Well we found the switch, but where is the key?" He looked at her with a doubtful hope, "You wouldn't happen to have it would you?"

Raven

Pulling a chain from around her neck, she revealed a key on the end, usually riding between her breasts safetly. "A parting gift of my uncle." She informed him, taking the chain off and putting the key in the lock. It was the right key.

Henrie

Henrie had to admit that he was either impressed or being led to his own personal death.  He kept his hand loosly by his sword, but he wasn't too concerned. Raven seemed harmless enough.

Raven

Opening the compartment, Raven was diappointed to find it empty, all except a note. "Dear Raven, sorry about the book, I needed it. I'll be sure to cast a gift your way when I use it. Love, your dear cousin." She read outloud. She sighed, rubbing her temples. "This is great."

Henrie sighed. "Who is this cousin of yours? Don't tell me he is dead too."
