((Yes, Jake see's the aftermath.))
Marcus was thrown back, skidded a hundred feet and crashing into a building. Blood ran out of the corner of his mouth. He tried to get up and flinched a little. Broken ribs, a broken arm, and a fractured elbow. No biggie. He thought, but tried to get up weakly. Take that back- it's a problem. Lucas suddenly appeared in front of him. There was a cut above his eyebrow and his leg looked a little messed up. The fight was already over. It had seemed like hours, but it was only a matter of minutes. "You were quite troublesome this time," Lucas said without any expression on his face. "But I'm not here for you. There's someone different that I'm going to get." He told Marcus. "It's someone else arond here. They can be of great use to me. Until next time, Marcus." Lucas walked away, was enveloped in shadow and disappeared in a whispering black cloud. "Come back!" Marcus screamed. "I'm not done yet!" He struggled to get up and fell back into the rubble. His demon features faded back into normal Marcus and he lay there. Seeing Jake wheeling and Nate running over, he sighed. This should heal in a couple days. I just have to cover it up. A bomb? Nah, that's stupid. The two of them came up to Marcus and he sat there. "Give me ten minutes and I can stand. Fifteen and I can walk." he answered weakly. He felt like an idiot lying there in the rubble, unable to defeat the demon who was his father. "Sorry guys, I shouldn't have tried it alone."
Jake pulled up next to Marcus and barley refrained from yelling. Taking a breath he said quitely "No, you shouldn't have tried it alone. What were you thinking?" Jake couldn't stand seeing Marcus like this. Unable to contain himself, Jake stood up unfolding his legs from the chair. He paced back and forth, taking up a lot of room. Claming down a little, Jake sat back down in the wheel chair, becoming a regular guy again. "How long will it be before you can stand again, we don't want Yuki seeing you."
"What happened!" Shikume called as he dove toward Marcus, and the others. "I didn't want to show up and see a body, and don't try to lie to me I felt that pressure from a demonic aura. Marcus explain youurself." Shikume was so worried he kept his wings extended in case some other problem arose.
Jake's voice got louder, not at Shikume, from the stress, "Marcus tried to take on Him by himself!" Jake could barley contain himself. "Marcus, how could you be so stupid?!" His voice almost a yell now. Jake jumped from his chair and pawed at the ground.
Yuki blinked. She had completely spaced out. Looking around, she realized that her friends had left the restaurant and sighed, wanting to slap her forehead in irritation. "Get a grip, Yuki," she mumbled to herself as she walked outside, but stopped short in shock as she watched Jake spring from his wheelchair. "T-that's impossible," she cried. He had transformed into some strange horse-man thing that was pacing the ground in front of Marcus, who was sitting up weakly. Meanwhile, Shikume observed the scene, not showing any signs of panic-- though that was most likely due to the giant wings spreading from his back. "What is going on?" Yuki half-whispered, feeling the world spin around her. She felt herself heating up and stood fast, determined not to faint. But when she waved a hand in front of herself, not only was her vision perfectly clear, but her hand was glowing. Glowing, for God's sake! "What's happening to me? Help me!" Yuki yelled to the strange creatures, before whiteness ate at the corners of her vision and her body was obscured in light.
"I'm sorry." Marcus murmured. Normally he'd be yelling back at them, but he realized his mistake and was ashamed of it. "I've been training so hard for these last few years." he said, looking at his limp arm. "I managed to deal more damage to him this time though. i thought that after this time I could take him." Marcus felt his emotions welling up inside him and he shoved them back into the pit of his heart. "He said he was going to take one of us and use our power to help himself. I think he was referring to Marshall or Nate..." Marcus felt his bones searing with pain, then knew he could stand. He stood. "Let's go. Nate and Shik can head to the woods. Jake and I will go get the others. And where's Marshall? Anyway, let's just tell Yuki I... Um... Fell off the pier and hit some cement. Or something." Marcus replied and they walke toward their destinations.
Yuki groaned. Every part of her ached and she knew that bruises would be evident in the morning. She sat up and ran a hand through her hair, but it was surprisingly silky... dare she say smooth, even? Looking around, Yuki realized that she was at the end of the pier, with no one else in sight. "Did I dream it all?" she wondered. "What about Jake as a horse, and Marcus... did I only imagine that he was acting weird?" Oh, how she wished that things were clear! Yuki got to her feet and the pain instantly vanished, leaving behind a tingly sensation. "What on Earth is going on?" she mumbled, then immediately took it back. Nothing this strange could be on Earth, she thought.
"Aw sh.it," Shikume said as he turned around and saw Yuki lying on the ground with cat ears and a tail. "We'll at least now we know how she would respond to finding out." Shikume said sheepishly.
Jake eyes widened and he spun around. Seeing Yuki disappear, Jake relised she must have gone to peir. There was something... off about that place. "Guys did Yuki just see my horse end and Shimuki's wings?" Knowing that she did Jake got back into his wheelchair. "Marcus, be more careful next time! But it's alright man, we can handle it. I'm going to go calm down Yuki." Jake rolled over to the peir and waved at Yuki. "Hey what are you doing way down here?"
Marshall took in the scenery; a relatively flat clearing with a variety of flowers and a decent sized pond surrounded by tall broad oak trees, one of which he was lazily resting on. I could live here forever Marshall thought, glancing at the small mountain to the right of his tree. Since he was waiting for the group, he decided to make a little platform out of branches and woven grass for him to sit on whenever he felt like it. It turned out better than he hoped for, proving to have a waterproof overhang, which also provided a little shadow, making it easily accesible. It was also out of view of unwanted eyes. Namely Shikume, chuckled Marshall. He'd probably use it as his nest.
Marcus immediately staightened and strolled over to Yuki and Jake. He put on his usual playful smile and decided that he would just put it out there. "Hey Yuki, I know this may sound weird, but I want you to know that you're different." Yuki backed up a little and stared at him. Marcus threw up his hands and shook them. "Not like weird! Like us. And you're not different in a bad way, just a um... Special way!" Marcus inwardly gave a sigh of relief. Nice recovery, doofus, he thought. "And Jake and I are going to show you how you're special." he nodded at Jake in question and led Yuki to the water. "Look at your reflection." he murmured gently. "It'll show you what you are inside."
Shikume walked up behind the group and let his wings out. He waited for Yuki to realize that she was like all of them, special in her own way. Then he gave a little cough and waited for them to turn around.
Yuki took a shaky breath. She usually would have trusted Marcus and Jake, but of course these were different circumstances. Walking towards the edge of the pier, she cast a doubtful look to Marcus and leaned over cautiously. But what met her eyes surprised her more than anything that had happened so far-- silver tabby cat ears sprouted from the top of her head and if she squinted in the ripples in the water, Yuki could make out a matching cat tail waving behind her. She turned back to Marcus and Jake, only to notice Shikume behind them. Of course, he still sported his large bird's wings. "I didn't imagine it," she murmured. "I'm... a cat? And you guys... you're special too?"
"Proably not an actual cat." Jake said. "More like... well I'm not sure what you are. If you hadn't noticed, umm yeah, I'm a centaur. We are all 'specail' as you put it." Jake really didn't want her to freak out on them, but he couldn't see he not freaking out either.
"As you can see, I have wings, but I'm a falcon Anima, not a neko like you." Shikume said quickly, "I'm really happy to have another person similar to me here in the Vistas, and I hope that I can help you feel more comfortable with your abilities." With this Shikume took off heading to his treehouse where he hoped to sleep off the day's worries.
"So... not a cat. Like a half cat. And you're a centaur," Yuki stuttered. She turned to Shikume to ask more about his falcon Anima claim, but he had taken off already. He moves fast, she thought. Yuki switched her attention back to Jake. "Okay, so everyone here is special. Like... Marcus and Marshall too?"
Jake nodded gulping. "Umm, yeah them too." He stepped back gesturing to Marcus and Marshall to tell her what they were. "Well, not everyone in the town. Thats why I'm in a wheelchair, and Shikume hides his wings."
"Oh." Yuki swallowed hard. "That makes sense. But what am I supposed to do?" She laughed, slightly hysterical, tugging at her newfound cat ears. "What if these don't go away?"
"you could try hats." Nate suggested, Shrugging his coat off to unveil his wings. "Mine dont go away at al but I can hide them under my clothes." Nate struggled to keep his voice level. The battle between Marcus and Lucas had shattered his calm. The Unholy side of the world was like a drug to him. He wanted it, craved it to a point where he needed it. However, the angel part of him died a little more the more he mettled with the Unholy. Seeing 2 demons in their full glory had reawaked cravings in Nate that he hadn't felt in years. Deep breath, in..... and out.... he thought to himself
Marcus rubbed the back of his neck. "Uh, umm... Well, I'm a um..." He paused after stuttering. "I'm a half-demon." he said. "My dad was a demon, and well, my mom was a human. But I never met my mom. And I hate my dad," he mumbled. He kicked the dirt and looked at Nate fidgeting. He must've been affected by the two huge demonic auras. Marcus sighed. "Sorry Yuki, we just didn't wanna scare you," he said. "I guess I should also tell you that I had an 'incident' earlier. It wasn't just a random cough or something. Also, I should tell you that Lucas was here for one of you guys, not me." Marcus cringed as he bent his elbow. "But don't worry, I don't think it's you."
((Sorry I took so long!))
